We collect personally identifiable information when you sign up for a Meowtel account, and collect financial information when you request a Reservation or create a Sitter Listing.
We collect anonymous information when you navigate the site. We use this information to make improvements to our site and services, personalize your experience, and measure site traffic. Payment information is securely stored on the Stripe Payment Gateway and is never stored on Meowtel servers.
We may send you emails from time to time for various purposes, but you have the option to unsubscribe at any time.
We run regular virus, malware, and vulnerability scans on our site.
We will notify you whenever we make significant changes to this policy.
II. WHAT WE COLLECT
When you register for an account at Meowtel.com, you will be asked to enter your name, email address, zip code, phone number, and other information in order to complete your Meowtel profile and personalize your services. If you register via a Social Networking Site (“SNS”) such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Google+, we may access your SNS profile or use these services' pixel tracking devices to collect that information.
Your personal data that we collect through tracking and registration may include hashed identifiers derived from email addresses for the purposes of cross-device tracking for targeted advertising.
When you request to make a Reservation with a Sitter, you may be asked for credit card or other payment information.
When you are owed payment as a Sitter, you may be asked for bank, check, or card information in order for us to remit payment to you.
III. WHEN WE COLLECT
We collect information from you at the time you register for an account, request a reservation, receive payment, enter information on any forms on our site, or navigate around the site.
IV. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We may use the information we collect from you to:
- Personalize the site based on your preferences and location.
- Process your requests and transactions as efficiently as possible.
- Provide fast and directed customer service whenever you need it.
- Make improvements to the site.
- Send periodic emails and messages regarding your bookings or requests.
- Administer a promotion, survey, or other site feature.
When you provide us with your email address, we may use it to send you information, respond to requests, process orders, send order confirmations, and send you other information related to our site and services. You have the right to unsubscribe from receiving future emails at any time, and can do so by following the instructions at the bottom of any email we send to you.
V. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
Your personal information is protected behind secured networks, and is only accessible by Meowtel administrators and persons given special access rights. All of your information on our site is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
Any connection you complete on our site that requires you to submit personal information is protected by SSL.
If any data breaches are ever detected on our site, you will be notified via the site and via email within one business day.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act notice: Per our Terms, persons under the age of 18 are not allowed to access or use our site or services. We do not knowingly collect any information from persons under the age of 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete that information as soon as possible. If you believe that we may have such information, please contact us.
VI. HOW WE STORE YOUR INFORMATION
Stripe Payments may store your credit card or banking information in order to expedite future reservations and make the billing process more convenient for you. If you do not wish to have your information stored, you can remove your credit card information via the “Payment Info” section of your account. We use the Stripe platform (http://www.stripe.com) to handle payments. Learn more about Stripe’s security features at https://stripe.com/help/security.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or even turn off all cookies completely. We do not recommend disabling cookies, as doing so might cause some features of the site to work improperly.
VII. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
Your personally identifiable information will generally not be shared with third parties unless we give you advance notice. Your information may be released without notice, however, when doing so is necessary to comply with the law or a court order; enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person.
Your non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to third parties for purposes such as marketing or advertising. As of December 27, 2019, we provide non-personally identifiable information to these parties: Google Analytics.
We also use social networking buttons provided by Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+. Your use of these buttons is optional, and is governed by the privacy policies of the respective services.
VIII. CALIFORNIA CONSUMER PRIVACY ACT PRIVACY STATEMENT (“CCPA Statement”)
As of January 1 2020, residents of California have certain rights regarding Meowtel's collection, use, and sharing of their personal information.
Meowtel does not sell your personal information and will not do so in the future without providing you with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of such sale as required by law.
California residents may take advantage of the following rights:
- You may request, up to two times each year, that we disclose to you the categories and specific pieces of personal information that we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which your personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting your personal information, the categories of personal information that we disclosed for a business purpose, any categories of personal information about you that we sold, the categories of third-parties with whom we have shared your personal information, and the business or commercial purpose for selling your personal information, if applicable.
- You may request that we delete any personal information that we have collected from or about you. You can send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- We value your privacy and will not discriminate in response to your exercise of privacy rights.
IX. OPT-OUT INFORMATION
Look for an AdChoices logo (the blue triangle) in the corner of the ad. Click the logo to learn more about interest-based advertising, who served the ad, and manage your ad options.
X. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We reserve the right to make changes to this policy from time to time. Whenever we make a change that is substantive or retroactive, we may provide you with notice by email or through the site. We encourage you, however, to review this page periodically to check for updates. Whenever we make a change to this policy, you shall be deemed to have notice of those changes within the earlier of (1) 24 hours after we post the revised policy to our site or (2) 24 hours after we send you an email to let you know of the revision.
