Meow! I am Olivia, a cat sitter in Pittsburgh, PA

Meowdy partner! I'm olivia, an aspiring cat sitter and a young professional currently living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I'm Pennsylvania born and raised - and I've owned a cat 18 out of 27 years of my life! I was (thankfully) born into a cat-centric family. We've had four cats that I was also responsible for taking care of up until I began staying in Pittsburgh during the summers as an anthropology undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh. While I remember cats as part of our family from a young age (named Baby and Candy), I started taking care of Lucy, a fluffy cat - who we nicknamed 'Lucifer' since we all know even the cutest cat can be the devil incarnate - who suffered from seizures. At the age of 5 I'd routinely help administer his medication up until he sadly passed away.

From there, we rescued two young sibling cats, Rosie and Roscoe, who were the light of our life. Roscoe was a lil chonky man, and Rosie was a proper princess. Our third cat, Cocoa Bean, came into our lives as a feral kitten. He's just the cutest black bean! I was responsible for feeding all three, playing with them daily, cleaning their litter box, and helping them get to the evil vet's office. Roscoe passed over the rainbow bridge as an adult cat due to cancer caused by kitty leukemia. I vividly remember the day we laid him to rest. We gave Rosie so much love until she was 18, and Cocoa Bean is still with us at the super senior age of 19.

I believe that bonding with a feline creates so much warmth and space to breathe in our busy lives. My family and I try our best to reciprocate the love, attention, and light we receive from them. We call our cats to "speak" with them on our voicemail when we're away. Dare I say I even owned a hyperrealistic artistically painted kitten shirt as a youth and we have three Christmas ornaments dedicated to our cats.

During a cat sitting visit I will:
- print, read, and review your brief and guidelines
- feed your cat(s) according to your guidelines
- administer medication, if any is needed, and as needed
- scoop and change the litter box(es) with clean litter - I can wash them, too!
- play, cuddle, and meow to your cat
- follow your guidelines and complete any additional tasks needed to ensure your furry child(s)' happiness while you're away
- attend to any house chores if needed (vacuuming, watering house plants, taking in the mail, etc.)
- teach your cat(s) some Japanese - I minored in Japanese!

My approach to cat sitting:
As a certified cat-lover, I look forward to being your cat's friend while you're away on your travels and attending to all of their needs to ensure they're as happy as they can be! As an anthropology graduate, I'm reflexive to your cat's individual personality because one style doesn't fit all. Every cat has a unique sense of who they are. I will meet them where they're at and play, take it slow, or leave them be if they prefer. It's truly up to what you and your feline friend would like!

I'm also quick to notice any changes in a cat's mood or health as I began my undergraduate career as a nursing student and switched majors after a year of completing clinicals. Up until then I worked as a home care health aid, so I calmly react in an emergency situation.

Neighborhoods I service:
I own a car and I'm more than willing to travel throughout Pittsburgh and the Greater Pittsburgh region! I currently live in Squirrel Hill/Squirrel Hill North. If you're reaching out to schedule a drop-in visit, I'd prefer to stay within thirty minutes of the City. For overnight visits, I'm willing to travel about an hour outside of the City. If you're unsure if you're too far away, feel free to send me a message with your neighborhood and/or cross streets near you.

A little more about me:
When I'm not introducing myself to every cat I see on the street or talking about the kitties in our lives to friends and family, I enjoy walking throughout the City and exploring its many trails. I love to practice yoga, meditation, and mindfulness and often escape into the woods or the beach. I'm currently in between jobs since I recently completed my AmeriCorps VISTA service at the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council and my three-year tenure as a Seasonal Farmers' Market Site Attendant at the City of Pittsburgh. Creating systems change by honoring traditional practices, advancing regenerative agricultural practices, and advocating for racial justice and food sovereignty is my calling. I've also have taken care of horses as a young girl, have experience volunteering at a doggy daycare (cleaning, feeding, and walking every day), and have been paid to watch dogs and cats during overnight visits for friends and acquaintances over the past four years. I'm hoping to meet many new furry friends!

Thank you for reading such a long bio and I hope I get to meet the amazing feline in your life!

Additional facts:
- I follow quite a few internet cat'lebrities. I'm clearly bad at puns and I love farm animals too!
- Please see scheduling restraints re: Thursday availability. I'm available, but I do have a weekly in-person appointment. Feel free to drop me a message with any questions!
