Meow! I am Kathryn, a Cat sitter in Raleigh, NC

Q: Why should I trust you with my crazy kitties?

A: I will take outstanding care of your cat(s) be they sweet, loving, gentle, and affectionate (in other words, super easy) or cat$h!t crazy (in other words, a holy terror). Every cat is (p)aw-inspiring in their own majestic way. I will treat your kitties with love and respect regardless of how they treat me. I'll do everything I can to keep your mind at peace while you are away, because that is what I'd want for my bestie!

By the way, that's my girl Eunice A.K.A. "Yoonie" in the photo! One lucky and very rainy Sunday evening, I heard a persistent "meowwww" outside my apartment. This tiny tabby was very adamant that she come inside my apartment and stay there. That was two months ago, rather, some worms, a fake pregnancy, an "I swallowed a penny...Siiiike!...and now you owe urgent care $400 bucks!" incident, two heat cycles, mannnnny "love bites," sneak attacks, Zoom bombs while I'm teaching, about $1,500.00 in vet bills and supplies, and (finally PRAISE JESUS!) a spay later! I may not be a vet tech or TNR expert but I definitely love my cat. Just ask my roommate who often just shakes her head in bewilderment and fortunately, hasn't abandoned us (yet). She's my inspiration and my little drill sergeant. She runs a tight ship, lemme tell ya! I think I just mixed up my military metaphors but you get what I mean.

Q. Why do you love cats?

A. A lot of people say things like "I'm more of a dog person..." and even though it drives me crazy, I get it. Dogs have been domesticated by humans and bred to basically worship the ground we walk on, whereas some time around 4400 B.C. near'bouts the Fertile Crescent, some cat pounced on an entrepreneurial opportunity and struck a deal with us humans: "You give me shelter, maybe a little food and keep the rats coming, and I'll take care of "em for ya!" Our relationship with cats has evolved. However, I think that original pawshake engenders respect! Many cats could survive on their own but choose to grace our presence. Cats are funny, mysterious, inspiring, beautiful, quirky little individuals that make our hearts giggle with delight. I respect, appreciate, and love every cat equally regardless of personality. When you adopt a cat you never really know what you're going to end up do you? In my opinion, that's part of the fun! Cats challenge us to be better people, capable of loving even those whose reciprocation is not so obvious...that and they are far more effective alarm clocks than actual alarm clocks.

Q. Experience?

A. Believe it or not, I *actually* have more experience dog-sitting than cat-sitting even though I "converted" to cats in grad school. I do actually love both dogs and cats very much. They are just different species and both should be respected for who they naturally are. I did lots of dog/ house sitting throughout grad school for friends, family, professors, and even one of my current colleagues. I also worked as a doggie daycare counselor one summer. I realized how much I loved animals when I also realized that I didn't mind shoveling the poop nor the poopy pay. Sometimes, "you just know."

Q. What's your day job?

A. When I'm not 1. napping with my kitten 2. playing with my kitten, or 3. watching Animal Planet with my kitten ("My Cat from Hell" is our furrrrrrorite!) I'm teaching arts entrepreneurship courses at NC State University.

I promise you, I will take outstanding care of your cats regardless of how much affection they do/ do not show towards me. I will care for your cats like my own family!

COVID-19: I am committed to doing my part to keep you and your cat(s) safe! I will wear a mask while in your home and use hand sanitizer/ wash hands before caring for your cat(s) (playing, feeding, meds, etc.) I also keep vinyl exam gloves with me and I am happy to wear them in your home upon request.
