Meow! I am Kate, a cat sitter in Chicago, IL

I’m new to the platform but a lifelong cat guru. THE cat guru. I grew up in an animal shelter and have cared for hundreds of cats. I love them very much and everyone knows it. The silly tuxedo kitty above is my daughter, Emory. I scooped her as a teeny, squealing kitten from a storm drain on the 4th of July, 2019—and she’s been a clingy little pumpkin ever since.

Growing up, my family always rescued and fostered animals and my parents continue to do so on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia—kitty paradise. With friends' pets, I'm the one who the notoriously standoff-ish cat walks up to purring, and friends say, "(shocked) They never do that for anyone!" So you could, indeed, say I'm a cat whisperer of sorts. I know sitters aren't typically vet techs but I'm extremely used to caring for pets with special medical needs and know all the signs and symptoms of when something's wrong.

A little more background:

I have a bachelor's degree in urban planning/photography/medical illustration as well as post-baccalaureate bio-med coursework. I worked for years as a home-care aide to [human] geriatric patients and also took care of their houses/pets while completing biomed coursework. I’m very used to following detailed instructions when it comes to household needs.

I had planned on going to med school long ago until my more creative endeavors took over. I've been sustaining as a voice over actor but the industry is becoming more and more saturated so I'm looking for something to supplement—and working with animals is ideal for me anyway.

About 10 months ago, I came to Chicago to attend The Second City Conservatory. That program just finished up and I'm focusing more on writing. I'm also at the age where I have no interest in going out and really keep to myself aside from performing occasionally. I don't drink or smoke.

I'd be glad to send anyone my résumé(s) and social media. I can also provide references including my former supervisor from my home-care aide days. I have a couple résumés; one for performance and one with more typical job/medical experience so you can get the full scope of me as a person.

Many thanks and I hope to meet you and your kitties!

P.s. I live a relatively “crunchy” lifestyle myself, with non-toxic products, so I usually carry non-toxic/pet-friendly sponges/soap and automatically err on the au-naturale side in general when it comes to clean-ups, etc. —- just in case.

P.p.s. I’m fully COVID vaccinated/boosted and more than willing to wear a mask anywhere/anytime.
