Cat Sitting in Emeryville, CA

I was born and raised in Oakland and as a child, I fed and cared for the stray cats in the building apartment. It was my dream to have a cat companion. I was born and raised in Oakland and as a child, I fed and cared for the stray cats in the building apartment. It was my dream to have a cat companion. Now, I am a cat mom to Havok, a 4 year old curious, brave, and intuitive tabby cat. I adopted her when she was 9 months old. Loving her has taught me so much about sharing space with a cat. I am patient and attentive to her needs. I know that no cat is the same and might have different needs and it is so important to me to make sure the cat is cared for intentionally. I am very knowledgeable about cats. I know to provide enrichment to cats at least 15-30 minutes a day. I research and ask professionals on the best products and care for cats. I also have experience giving cat medicine orally and shots. I am excellent at following directions and communication, which is my top priority when working with cat parents. I am so excited to meet and spend time with your most precious being!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a 4 year old tabby cat name Havok! Which is an ironic name for her because she actually is very sweet and does not wreak havoc. When I went to adopt at the shelter, the woman working there said, “this is a really special cat, she is very sweet and curious. She won’t be here long.” When I got to meet her in the room I was in awe of her bravery. She was obviously very scared and yet she peeped her head out the carrier and then walked out onto the floor to meet me. This is a quality I’ve seen in her over and over again and it never ceases to amaze me. I am so proud to be her cat mom and love her very much. She taught me how necessary boundaries are and how they help both of us.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Be picky and trust your gut. Your cat is one of the most precious beings in your life. And no one knows better on how to take care of your cat or know your cats needs better than you do. It’s important to find someone who is able to follow directions to understand what you and your cats needs are so that everyone is safe. In addition, someone who has great communication skills: where they are clear about how to care for your space and cat, what tasks have been completed, updates on the cat and just as important, mistakes that were made. It’s And that you connect or have the same values as this person. How they treat their cat is very telling about how they might treat yours and it is okay if that is not a good fit.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

My own cat is very anxious and timid. Cats have great boundaries and have every right to be cautious to new people. With this understanding, I am able to be very patient, gentle, and quiet with anxious/timid cats. I ask cat parents questions to understand what their cat likes to eat, play with, and where they like to hide. From there I am able to sit quietly and give lots of space to the cat to let them know I am in their space. I meet the cat where they are at and will not rush them to do anything they are not comfortable with, including being around me. I know that it takes time and trust and I am happy to be in silence with them, make sure they have what they need to get through the day/night.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
