I worked mostly with the sick cats, giving them authorize... Hi! I am Estrella Hernandez; I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have a lot of experience caring for cats as I have three of my own! But specially because I worked at an animal shelter caring for cats and dogs.
I worked mostly with the sick cats, giving them authorized medication, cleaning them and their kennels and doing visits with them. I handled spicy kitties, and I'm not afraid to get to know them and earn their trust!
Outside of cat sitting, I have a job in Longmont where I am mainly located but I am happy to go to nearby towns :)

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I really enjoy when kitties warm up to me and let me play with them. It's always rewarding seeing the shy kitties come out of their shell and want to become friends ＼(^o^)／
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have three cats of my own. A white one named Shishiky that's 7 years old, a grey tabby called Chuquita that's 5 years old, and a black one called Batman that's 3 years old.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I usually like to get to know the new cat parents during the meet and greets. This time lets me ask the necessary questions about the care of the the kitties and answer any questions/concerns the parents might have.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
The safety of the kitties is always my top priority when working with them. The first day of the visits I like to do a walk through the house to see if there are any potential concerns such as open windows or fragile things on the counters. If I do encounter such concerns, I make sure to inform the parents and wait on the next action they would want me to take. In the case that I don't hear back from the parents during the visit I make sure to take care of the more hazardous concerns, such as open windows.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is a classic small mice plushie for cats that love fetch and string toys of any kind!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I usually introduce myself with a treat, if they take the treat then I give them more. Once I see they are less anxious I slowly introduce a finger to see if they want to smell it. I usually try to give the cat as much space as possible in order for them to not feel cornered and trapped. If they don't smell my finger or accept pets under the chin, then I take that as a sign of them wanting space from me.

Estrella is always so kind and nurturing to our cats whenever she visits! this is our Second time with her and she sends so many adorable photos of our babies and even got our shy boy out of his shell! She is very sweet and always focuses on the safety of the cats with her updates and making sure they eat before leaving. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Longmont cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
