What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for 5 years, but cared for my Ragdoll for over 20 years and had cats since I was 7. I have gotten shy cats who never come out for others to run down the stairs to me and request food and pets, successfully administered pill and liquid medication to super senior cats (my own and those I sit for), and am always up for snuggles and a pawparrazi photo shoot!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Everything! I love being greeted by cats, getting head rubs and belly flops, holding them and feeling their healing purrs, and when I get the purrfect photo of them it melts my heart. I adore cats and am always looking for them during my day, on the streets and in windows as I walk by - they are the absolute best!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Tuck was one of my first professional pet sits, and I cared for him up to the last day before my Zoe had to leave. I was terribly sad that whole week because I knew it was coming, but I had two sits in addition to caring for my girl (she had chronic kidney disease and needed subcutaneous fluids every other day at that point, and was using the litterbox a lot). Tuck knew something was up on the last day, and asked to be held so he could bury his face in my neck and give me a hug with both front arms wrapped around my neck. It was amazing that this little soul wanted to provide someone he’d only met a few days prior with comfort. And it truly helped. I have sat for Tuck since then and he now gives me hugs daily 😻❤️

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I shared most of my adult life with Zoe, my 22-yo Ragdoll who passed over he rainbow bridge on 1/14/2025 💔🌈🐾

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Make sure you and the kitty are comfortable with the sitter, and give them as much information about the daily habits of the kitty as you can - we want to ensure you are comfortable leaving your babies!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I schedule a meet and greet to get the lay of the land, pick up keys/codes, and meet the parents and pets to ensure it a good fit. I create notes for each client where I ask about feeding, water, litterbox, toys, spaw essentials, medications, and vet information. Once I have all of that information and the parents are comfortable with me, I will text them one day before the scheduled sit to confirm they still need me. I send details reports and photos after every visit.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I never leave doors or windows open, and make sure when I open or close the door that I am using to get into the house that I either know where the cat is or can see them to ensure they don’t get out. If there are alarms or codes, I ensure they are on when I leave.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I am generally available for holidays, and am always available in November and December (we don’t travel during those months).

What is your favorite cat toy?

Wands are always so popular! I love them because they’re easy to maneuver and the kitties spend a lot of time with them!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have lots of experience with the shy kitties! I don’t wear hats around them so they can see my face, I speak in quiet, low tones and reassuring words. No sudden or loud movements and I keep to the ground as much as I can.
