Cat Sitting in Wilmington, DE

There has never been a time in my life in which I have not owned multiple cats. I grew up with them and many other types of pets. I currently have two cats: Kitten Nicodemus (13 years old) who loves his toys and carries them around the house, and Dorian Gray (6 years old) who is a fluffy marshmallow. All my cats are rescues and well loved. They have medical needs hence why I am experienced with giving cats medication. Nicodemus has allergies that require topical and oral medications and Dorian has urinary issues as well as a heart murmur and requires special food and sometimes pills and oral medications. In the past I have had a cat who required injections and IV fluids... There has never been a time in my life in which I have not owned multiple cats. I grew up with them and many other types of pets. My first job growing up was pet sitting for my neighborhood: dogs, cats, lizards, fish, you name it. I plan my life around my pets because they are family. I have volunteered at shelter/adoption events, and I am continuing my education to work with animals. I've volunteered at Adventure Aquarium and worked for Center of Aquatic Sciences in animal education (animals I've had the pleasure of working with are penguins, hippos, lizards, insects, other avians, many small mammals, etc.).

I work as a biology lab tech at a college. I have access to a car and am willing to travel upwards of 30 minutes from my home in Wilmington, DE.

When it comes to litter and hairballs, I have no issues in clean up. I can handle at home medication for cats, or transport cats to the vet if necessary. I appreciate detailed instructions for the pets in my care.

I’m open to communication via cell, text, and e-mail with confirmed clients and will provide updates when requested.

Learn More About Elizabeth

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

For several decades now I've watched and cared for animals, my own as well as others. I've pet-sitter for dogs and cats and many small animals (birds, reptiles, small mammals). I've had a few clients through Meowtel starting summer 2023.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Meeting peoples' cats and getting to see many different fursonalities.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

There has been a cat who enjoyed shoulder riding me while I prepared her food.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Nicodemus Kitten and Dorian Gray are my two cats.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Make sure you watch your cat sitter interact with your cat. It's important to see that they can handle your cat. It goes beyond just feeding and litter box cleaning. A cat sitter should be able to interact with your cats to assess their basic health and mood while you're present so they have something to compare it to while you're away. They should ask questions, even if it's just getting you to repeat information you've posted in your profile about your cats. This is to double check if any information needs to be updated.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Meowtel profiles are helpful for me to get to know a new cat parent before a meet and greet. But you may find me asking questions to get the information repeated so I'm sure I am working from the most accurate and up to date information.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I am a foot-in-the-door person to keep any cats from bolting out when I enter a home. I make sure to follow cat parent instructions. I monitor the health of the cats by petting and if possible, by lifting. This lets me check their body condition and weight to make sure they are as healthy as I saw them during a meet and greet. I watch them eat if possible and I double check their litter deposits (nothing tells you more about health than the two p's!). A bit of play can also help me check energy levels, and some brushing time can help relax them.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am usually available on holidays, my family lives near by so I don't really travel.

What is your favorite cat toy?

While I like to try a stick and string toy, my cats prefer receipt paper and boxes as well as plastic trash.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Tempt them with owner approved treats and toys, if I can get them out I'll pet and brush them. They tend to warm up quickly to me, but if I ever find a truly timid/anxious cat I'll update my answer!

Liz did a great job of watching my two senior cats, including taking care of daily medications. She sent photos during each visit, took our trash to the curb, let us know when packages arrived, etc. Will use her services again.

Elizabeth did a great job! I was very grateful because she stopped by to check on my cat with little notice in bad weather. I had health concerns due to medication. Elizabeth was able to get my cat to eat and feel relaxed. She updated me quickly. This made me feel so much better and at ease.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

  • More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
  • 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
  • Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Wilmington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
