I was raised by a single mom who loved cats and we have had cats since I was 6 years old... I have a deep love for all animals and currently volunteer for Sea Turtle Preservation Society. I have also been a volunteer at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. I have been a volunteer and a foster for pet rescues for fifteen years and have had pets all my life. I've dealt with a variety of situations and am able to administer medications and handle special needs.
I was raised by a single mom who loved cats and we have had cats since I was 6 years old. I learned early on how to treat cats with respect and to be mindful of their boundaries. I learned how to feed cats, clean litter boxes and administer oral or subcutaneous medication injections by the time I was a teen. I know something of the various cat breeds and have learned to read a cat's cues and behavior by observation and interaction. I have developed a good understanding of the feline nature and how to interact with cats who are shy, frightened or semi-feral and am conscious of individual cats' sensitivities around petting, play, etc. Cats can be tricky to groom (i.e. brushing and claw trimming) but I am mastering that as well.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been a pet sitter for five years and my business has grown each year. I have dealt with all kinds of cats, including elderly and special needs, diabetic cats requiring insulin injections and asthmatic cats requiring an inhaler. I have also dealt with cats who have skin allergies and those with sensitive stomachs. I am able to administer medications and, as a pet sitter, I am committed to taking care of my clients' homes as I would my own, meaning I will tidy up and clean up any messes that may occur while you're away. I have been able to win over the hearts of (or, at least become cordial with) very anti-social to downright aggressive felines.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy getting to know individual cats and seeing the differences in their behavior and how they have unique personalities.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
There is not a particular one but the best visits are the ones where the cat starts to warm up to me and is not afraid to come in close for some pets. I was particularly thrilled to see a cat interact with me by pushing a "brush me please" button. Of course, I brushed him immediately!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ensure that the sitter comes with proper vetting or references.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I enjoy doing meet and greets and learning about the cat's usual routine, specific likes or dislikes, play habits, etc.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
If a cat is hiding, I make sure that I have laid eyes on it during the visit. I ensure there are no windows or doors left unsecured and that there are no safety risks such as plastic bags, toys that could present a unique hazard to the cat, etc.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I know holidays are hectic for people and I enjoy being able to lessen clients' stress during these times.

We have three cats and have trusted Chrystal with them for numerous visits! She is a clear communicator, goes above and beyond at each visit, and makes it obvious that she cares for our cats as if they were her own. One of our cats needs medicine daily which she gives comfortably and another is picky about other humans being in her house. Chrystal has done an amazing job gaining the picky ones trust while allowing her to have space and get what she needs. Leaving our cats when we go out of town is a much less stressful experience knowing they are in such amazing care with Chrystal!

We’ve been using Chrystal for the past 2.5+years, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She is consistently respectful, dependable, and incredibly responsive, which gives us total peace of mind whenever we’re away (4-6 times per year, both short and long trips). We have 2 cats, and one of them is very shy. One of the things we appreciate most is how mindful Chrystal is of his boundaries. She never forces interaction and always respects his space, which is so important to us. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after and takes the time to understand their individual personalities. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
