I have experience administering oral medication and have worked with a variety of different diets, from cats on a raw food diet to kibble with mix-ins... Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I have a regular client who I work with; this cat's name is Pica. Pica was a bit timid when I first started caring for him, but is now very vocal and cuddly! I enjoy "chatting" with him as I go about his care routine for each visit. After he eats his meal, he typically sits down with me on the couch and falls asleep on my lap for some time while I read. It has been so amazing to watch him develop trust with me as we continue our connection!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When I start working with a new cat parent, I like to set up a "meet and greet" - a 30-minute free meeting between myself, the cat(s), and the cat parent(s) - before the start of the scheduled sit. During this time, I want to introduce myself to both the pet parents and the cat to ensure everyone is comfortable with the sit arrangement and become acquainted with the cat's space. I will ask questions related to the cat's routine and take notes on this. I also like to learn where all the materials are before my stay. If everything goes smoothly and the decision to book the sit has been made, I will provide my contact information for the cat parent for ease of communication.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With cats that are timid or anxious, patience and gentleness are key, in my opinion. I always prioritize at least one meet and greet with the cat parent present before the sit dates so that the cat can meet me and become aware of me before the sit. When working with anxious or timid cats, I like to talk to them as I work through their care routine in a way that is quiet and gentle but alerts them of my presense. I avoid sudden movements or sounds. I also like to spend some time in one place to allow the cat to approach me when they are most comfortable. I will always wait for these cats to ask for pets/physical affection before attempting this. I also think treats and favorite toys are a good way to establish trust!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
