What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve cat-sit for mainly family and friends, but would like to expand to clientele! I’ve been cat sitting for about a year and half now, and thoroughly enjoy it.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have four kitties myself! Frogger, Pixel, Casper, and Azul. Frogger is my 3-year-old manx tabby. He got his name because he looks like he has a frog butt! Pixel is my 2-year-old tuxedo. Her name was inspired to match Frogger’s name. She is definitely my soul cat Casper is my 1 and a half year old flame point. He’s all white with an orange striped tail and orange face/paws! He is calm and mainly naps all day (I’m secretly jealous of him). Azul is my 1-year-old all black kitty. She is my foster fail, she’s a bit skittish with loud, unexpected noises, but so affectionate!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I will ask for detailed instructions on how to care for their kitty, especially the silly ones! I treat every cat like they’re my own and like to keep their routine is consistent - despite if a new person is feeding them while their cat parent is gone

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure everything is put away before I leave a client’s home (“leave everything just as you found it” kind of way) to make sure nothing puts the kitty in harms way! If client has pet cameras, I’m all good with that (you might see me playing and cuddling). If an emergency happens (either medical or otherwise), I will make sure to notify cat parent(s) and vet if needed. Before leaving, I will do a head count to make sure everyone is accounted for and in the home

Are you usually available during holidays?

I get it - it’s hard to find cat sitting during major holidays! Which is why I am aiming to make sure I’m available, so you don’t have to worry or cancel those travel plans you were so excited for

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I am Fear Free certified - I understand cat body language, stressors, how to decrease stress, and how to approach a timid and/or anxious cat. Cats have boundaries and can easily express their feelings if they’re brave! Sometimes cats are not feeling brave and that’s okay too! I can handle these types of cats with ease by reading their body language and taking my time with them. I’ve also given medications with ease to timid or anxious cats by taking my time with them and going slow, I will always go the extra mile to make it a positive experience for everyone involved.
