I have copious experience handling shy and fearful cats, handling special diets, giving cats pills, and of course, making sure asthmatic kitties take their meds! I have socialized kittens before and helped with rescue work through Feral Cat Solutions.
I am described by my friends and family as a cat lady through and through and I share my home with 4 wonderful rescues.

• Yuki, a tortie who was abandoned near my sister's house. She followed my sister home and once mom didn't come back, I had her join Kyo. Yuki has many gastrointestinal issues and requires careful care of her diet.
• Haru, who I adopted through Community Cat Crew. He is a distinguished tuxedo gentleman. Six months after I adopted Haru, he was diagnosed with asthma and is now a total champ with his inhaler.
• Rin, or Rin Rin, as we like to call her. Rin is a black cat who loves snuggles and is very very chatty. She regularly enjoys running on her cat wheel.
I am a librarian by trade and work from home so I'm able to adjust my schedule to stop by and check on your cats. I also enjoy reading, writing (someday I'll finish my novel), drawing, and of course, cuddling with cats!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
During the initial meet and greet, I like to cover all aspects of cat care, such as food, water, litter box, play, and medications. I also like to outline preferences for communication and for emergencies. As a new cat parent, leaving your cat would naturally be very stressful so I like to make sure I am well informed of both all of the cat's needs and the needs of their parent(s) as well.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! My family is local and I know it can be quite difficult to find cat sitters available during the holidays. I'm more than happy to stop by and spend some time with your kitty's!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Having socialized kitten before, I know that cats are largely just scared and need to feel safe first before they're comfortable approaching you. I let the cat take the lead in these situations. Luckily, cats are very communicative when they feel unsafe and will hiss and swat if you've crossed a line. My aim to make sure they never feel the need to do this but also to give them plenty of space if they are feeling anxious.

Sheila did a wonderful job caring for our older cat right from the start. He is on two meds twice daily; one oral liquid and one oral pill. She was on time and spent quality time with him each day. She took photo's and sent them to us after each visit. She took the time to get to know his favorite things and incorporate them into her time with him. Would definitely hire her again. :)

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Grand Rapids cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Sheila was great. Totally felt our cats were safe, well taken care of, and in good hands. Also felt she was respectful of our space and was helpful in brining in our mail and packages. Sheila is an amazing cat sitter who cared for my cat as well as if she were her own. When I told her that my cat was incredibly social, she made sure to play with her and spend time with her daily. She was an amazing communicator, sending me updates once or twice a day, and even let me know on her last day that I should pick up more cat litter on my way home so that I didn't come home to a surprise. I would recommend Sheila to anyone in Grand Rapids who is looking for a dependable, attentive, and caring cat sitter.
