What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been pet sitting officially for about four years now, and have cared for friends cats when they were out of town long before that. I have had both shy and outgoing kitty clients. And I love them all so much.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to learn about each cat’s unique personality when I meet them. I know that every single cat is different, so I love learning what makes them happy. And I LOVE a good snuggle.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I could spend all day telling you about Lou Lou (her “government name” when she’s in trouble is Louisa,) but I’ll try to keep it brief. Lou Lou showed up at my office as a pregnant feral cat. This was during the height of covid, so I spent a lot of time feeding and playing with her on the weekends and after work. She made me work hard for her trust, and it was about six months before I could even touch her. Originally, when I brought her home, she was supposed to go live with a friend of mine, but neither of us were willing to let each other go. And she’s been with me ever since.

We had such a great experience with Allison as our cat sitter! Her communication was excellent from start to finish, and we really appreciated the thoughtful daily check-in notes she sent about our kitties. It gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. At one point, our smoke alarm started chirping during our vacation, and Allison went above and beyond to handle the situation. She even turned on the TV to help comfort Rosie and Lily so they wouldn’t be too startled by the noise—such a kind and thoughtful touch. We’re incredibly happy with her service and the care she showed our cats. We’ll absolutely be booking with Allison again in the future!

If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Gastonia cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
