My sweet Ladybug, who's no longer with me used to be on fluoxetine for anxiety and gabapentin for pain... Hello! I'm Shannon Nowak, The Adoring Cat Whisperer Lady! This name has been given to me by wonderful Husband of 26 years! He says he has never known anyone who can pick such amazing kitties & also is keen on understanding their needs and wants. I have had cats my whole life since I was 9, I'm now 49.

In the past I even had an elderly cat, Jade, who had kidney failure & I had to give her fluids under her skin between her shoulder blades via IV. I don't have any problems with doing this if your fur baby requires it.
I love playing with cats and giving them treats to earn their trust! Unlike dogs not all cats are welcoming to strangers. You Need To Earn their trust. Period.
I'm a quiet person & I think that's why I'm so good with cats. When I'm cat sitting overnight, I look forward to the time alone, so you don't have to worry about anyone else being over. I'm an Artist and I'll bring some supplies with me to work on ideas but no worries -no paints will ever be brought over! Sketchbooks, pencils, charcoal sticks and some pastels that's it, nothing that makes a mess. I like to leave your place as it was when I arrived.
I live five miles from the state line of North & South Carolina and service both areas and I'm alright with traveling up to 100 miles as well!
Please know while you are gone your fur baby/babies will be SO LOVED!!!!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I'm not sure if I'd call this reservation a favorite but it was pretty significant. I used to live in Raleigh, NC and my friend asked me to cat sit for her. By this point I had known Cosmo and Biscuit for a few years. But when I saw Cosmo I knew something was wrong. He had always been very loving and still was but he kept staying in the garage where it was warmer than the house. It was July. But whenever I came back from doing Lyft he'd come out and stay with me. His eating and drinking was significantly decreased so was his weight. I carried him with me through the house so he wouldn't be left alone. I told my friend, they took him to the vet and he died 2 weeks later from old age.

We have 3 kitties here at home! Praline who I mentioned in my introduction is my son's cat, she was his early highschool graduation gift. We got her one week before everything was shut down for COVID. He's autistic so she was a God send! My sister gave me Romeo. After my mom died in 2022 my Ladybug withdrew from me a bit and I was lonely. Romeo and I bonded one weekend while visiting her. Then there's Sapphire! Someone dumped her in the briar patch across the street from our house. She was only 5.5 weeks old!!! I found her from her crys. She has chosen my husband and she's a total SPITFIRE and just like him too!!! She's officially made him a cat person!!! LOL
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My process for working with a new cat parent is to encourage them to be patient. Cats have their nuances but to definitely look for the slow eye blink and what I k like to call "the happy tail"! The happy tail is when it's straight up and they shake/vibrate their tail while purring! They're letting you know that they love you!!!

Shannon was great with our cat. He hid from her at first because he's a scaredy cat, but by the end of the week, he was coming out to say hi and get some love from her. Shannon sent photos every day, even when he did not appear. We will definitely use her again in the future to check on our kitty!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
