Meowdy! I became a cat parent of four in 2021, when I rescued Yuna and her three kittens: Ernest, Gandalf, and Cayman. It was thanks to rescuing them that I became a volunteer at a cat specific rescue, where I am now a senior volunteer. As a cat sitter, I pay close attention to your cat's routine. I have experience with all sorts of different kitties across life stages and special needs- including oral medications, special diets, topical medications, and inhalers. What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy getting to know the cats over a period of time through repeat visits. I especially enjoy getting to cat sit my former foster cats- visiting them in their forever homes is the best reward!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have four kitties, named Yuna, Gandalf, Ernest, and Cayman. Fun fact- Yuna is their mom! I rescued her and her three kittens when the kittens were under a week old. It’s been rewarding to see them grow up together.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I’d recommend setting your expectations immediately to see if it will be a good match for both you, the pet parent, and the sitter.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Setting up the meet and greet is very important to me. I like to have enough time at the meet and greet to go over fine details and give the cats a chance to introduce themselves to me and vice versa.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure to verify that all cats are accounted for and that anything possibly harmful is placed away. I always make sure that all windows and doors are closed and locked upon leaving the premise.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes- my family lives closeby so I rarely travel during the holidays. I usually pick up extra shifts at the cat shelter as well while the other volunteers are traveling during this time period.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I like wand toys so that I can get some steps and activity in too!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I let them approach me on their own terms. What are they motivated by? Food, toys, brushing? I understand that it may take several visits for the cats to open up to me, and that is ok! I never want to increase fear and anxiety in a cat.

Melissa was absolutely amazing! This was the first time we’ve ever gone on vacation and left our cats at home, so I was definitely nervous. But Melissa took such wonderful care of them that I was able to truly relax and enjoy my trip. She sent pictures and updates at every visit, which gave me so much peace of mind. When we came home, the kitties were happy, relaxed, and completely unphased by our absence — a clear sign they were well cared for and loved while we were away. Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:


  • More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
  • 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
  • Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
