Concord Cat Castle Sitter And Guardian

I'm Erika

Cat Sitting in Concord, NH

Hi, I’m Erika—a lifelong animal lover with a soft spot for cats of all personalities, from aloof aristocrats to cuddly lap warmers. I am the guardian of three cats currently (and two chickens). My current cohort includes three rescues a Scottish Fold, a bobtail, and an Arabian Mau, so I also understand breed differences, specialties, and challenges oh and energy levels!! I entered one of my folds into our local cat show in the household category (she did well) - and I enjoy learning about all cat types. I've had a cat with kidney disease, and one with IBS and Urinary Disease. One of my current cats has one eye (she is a sweet pirate kitty) my other has enophthalmos and so I also understand medical and physical challenges.

I understand that every cat has their quirks, and I take the time to get to know what makes yours feel safe and happy. My home is historically inspired (built in 1790!) and cozy, and I bring that same calm, thoughtful energy to my care...

I understand that every cat has their quirks, and I take the time to get to know what makes yours feel safe and happy. My home is historically inspired (built in 1790!) and cozy, and I bring that same calm, thoughtful energy to my care. I’m detail-oriented, respectful of your space, and committed to making your cat feel at ease while you’re away.

As a reliable and empathetic cat sitter, I offer attentive care tailored to each feline’s personality and routine. Whether your cats are playful, shy, or somewhere in between, I provide a calm, nurturing presence and keep their environment safe and comfortable. I’m experienced with multi-cat households and happy to manage feeding schedules, litter box maintenance, medications, and enrichment activities. I also keep your home tidy and secure while you're away, with thoughtful updates so you can relax knowing your pets are in good hands. Once booked, I’m happy to arrange a meet and greet to get acquainted with your cats and their needs before your trip.

I work as an IT Manager in higher education and I'm a, sometimes Teaching Lecturer at the college level, and a lifelong learner. I am working currently on my Ed.D. I have an MBA and an MA as well. I when not hanging with cats, I enjoy reading, skiing and snowboarding, hiking, watching films, playing music (guitar and keyboard) and spending time at home with my husband and our creatures. I live in New Hampshire as I love the outdoors, almost as much as I love the indoors with my cats.

Learn More About Erika

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have taken care of animals esp cats on and off for most of my teenage years - to now middle age. I remember taking care of a medical needs cat as a teenager which was eye opening (I think she had diabetes). My friends cat I looked after when I was in my 20s, he required an inhaler, and had the name Gob (pronounced Joeb) which was a fitting name for him.. as he was quite the rapscalian. He did pretty well with the inhaler treatment! I volunteer at the animal shelter in Cat Care as well, I have been doing that for ten years consistently now. Now not quite sitting, the care required requires learning about each cat and learning their joys and boundaries. I work with red dot cats as well (sometimes the shyest or behaviorally less people oriented). I have enjoyed my clients on Meowtel as well.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Helping cats and their owners take whatever break for whatever reason they need. We had a cat with anxiety so it was tough leaving him, but we also really needed a vacation from time to time. Our pet sitter made us feel relieved because it took a long time to find someone willing between his medical needs and severe anxiety. I understand the value of pet sitting for all kinds of creatures.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have Teto, Cappie and Maisie at home. My day always starts with their care. Teto is an Arabian Mau, Cappie a Bobtail and Maisie is a Scottish Fold. All rescues.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Look for someone with experience that you feel most importantly you can trust. Those with exposure to cats and different kinds of cats is so important (that for me means breeds and behaviors).

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I typically do a meet and greet, I will bring my phone or a notebook to take notes and learn more about their cat(s). I like to meet the kitty if the kitty is up for it.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Yeeeeow 🍌 and any given box. My kitty Maisie likes her cat wheel (which was supposed to be for our other very active cat) and I enjoy watching her run sprints on it.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I never initiate the conversation - ie in order to build trust its important to let the cat initiate and take it slowly! We've done cat and people introductions so much in our home. We adopted 2 adult cats in our latest round so I understand the importance of understanding your cat. This often means - making sure they have somewhere to go they trust (did the owner leave out a blanket that smells like them for the kitty to rest on)? I desribe my approach which starts with simply my voice and gaining familiarity with that. From there we work on trust with my glasses to rub on (if the cat is open to that) and we go from there. I assess the body language of the cat as we go. I never go too far with a kitty who doesn't trust me.

Hearing about Erika volunteering at the local shelter was reassuring that she would do well despite not having lots of reviews on the site. We had no problems with her visit, and appreciated the photos. Erika was very good about staying in touch. We plan to book with her again.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
