How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I take the safety and security of every cat and home very seriously. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions and make sure doors, windows, and other entry points are secure to prevent cats from escaping. I keep a close eye on the cats during my visits, ensure they have access to fresh water, food, and a clean litter box, and watch for any unusual behaviors or signs that something may be wrong. I also make sure potentially dangerous items, foods, and household products are kept out of their reach. I respect each owner’s home, keep it clean and secure, and provide regular updates and photos so they can feel confident that their furry family members are safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I understand that every cat has their own personality, and some need more time and patience to feel safe around new people. I would approach timid or anxious cats calmly and gently, giving them plenty of space and allowing them to come to me when they feel ready. I would never force interactions or overwhelm them with attention. Instead, I would build trust at their own pace through a calm presence, gentle talking, treats if permitted, and playtime if they feel comfortable. I would also follow the owner’s instructions closely, maintain their familiar routine, and make sure they have safe, quiet places to retreat to.

If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
