What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have around 25 years of experience caring for cats. I am comfortable giving medicine and have experience with oral meds, insulin injections and administering fluids for kidney cats. I also recently learned to use a kitty inhaler.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I adore animals so much and really enjoy meeting new cat friends and helping their humans know their babies in good hands and well cared for while they're away! If they're playful, I have fun keeping them entertained with their favorite toys. I also really like taking photos of them and enjoy sending lots of cute snapshots to their humans to let them know how or visit went.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have a wonderful and silly 2-year old rescue tuxedo cat named Wednesday. She was a stray kitten and had a bad eye infection that took one of her eyes, but she's super observant and graceful little gal!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to do a meet and greet to introduce ourselves to each other and discuss the specific needs of their cat(s) while they’re away. I’ll ask about feeding schedule, treats, meds if needed, vet info and what toys they love the most. I also like to ask their preference for updates. I can share plenty of adorable photos or keep updated to a minimum if preferred.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I make sure to communicate clearly with the owners and ensure I have all of their info. I’ll wash their water and food dishes often and pay attention to feeding guidelines. I will make sure no doors or windows are open so they stay inside, safe and sound. I will not leave string or any other food or items they might try to eat.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them their space and respect their boundaries! Cats are particular and can take time to warm up to new people. If they seem receptive to connecting, I like to crouch down and offer my hand for them to sniff. If they give me a nuzzle, I am honored. If they hiss and/or growl at me, it is a clear signal that they're not ready to engage yet and I will back away.

We had such a great experience with Abbey as our cat sitter! She was punctual, communicative, and took amazing care of our cat, Jasper. Abbey followed all our instructions to the letter, made sure to spend time playing with him, and sent us tons of photos and videos that gave us real peace of mind while we were away. She even went the extra mile and cleaned the dishes—truly above and beyond! It was clear that she genuinely cared about Jasper’s well-being and wanted us to fully enjoy our vacation. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Beacon cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
