What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for 8 years. I started cat sitting for a friend who was traveling, then I started sitting for deployed millitary personnel. I have fostered cats for 30+ years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy discovering the cat's personality and how their personalty interacts with me as opposed to the kitty parents. Sometimes it is the same, sometimes the parents are very surprised.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I don't really have a favorite cat sitting reservation because they vary so much. I have many that I only sit for while the parents are away, but I do have a few that I sit for every week. I have some kitty clients that I have only met once or twice and some that I have known for years.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have Raven, Poe and Milly. All three girls, all three crazy. Raven and Poe are sisters, Millie is a year older.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Of the probably 100s of cats I have cared for, some take to me immediately and some take months to warm up. Don't get discouraged.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

The process for working with a new cat parent is usually a meet and greet or two if necessary where feeding, litterbox habits, medications and toys and playtime are discussed. I have a list of questions I ask. I answer cat parent questions. Then we move forward from there.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

For safety of cats, I am very ninja like in my ability to slip in and out of doors without allowing a cat to get passed me, although, I prefer entering the home through the garage so that I have double-gating available. I also carry a very large cardboard in my car. If necessary, I can hold this in front of myself when entering the home. I always keep doors locked while I am in the home for the sit and when I leave. I keep outside lights on at night when possible and reset alarms as I exit. I also change times that I arrive and depart, keep mail and newspapers collected and often drive away, then circle back past the house from the other direction.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am usually available during holidays, but they do fill up early and fast!

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy would be a tie between the laser pointer and the spinny circle. I like both. Sometimes a regular flashlight is fun too

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I handle shy and anxious cats however the pet parent feels comfortable. Some cats just want to be left alone and I respect that. So.e cats take a really long time to warm up to new people and I respect that too.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

The Meowtel Promise & Satisfaction Guarantee

We are proud to provide each of our independently-contracted Meowtel cat sitters with the full benefits of our Meowtel Promise on eligible reservations. For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.
