What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting as an early teen. I grew up with multiple cats at all times in the house so at home I became familiar with cats behavior. I then was referred by my mom to pet sit for her friends and their neighbors. As a late teenager I worked at a full service pet store that sold animals and I was responsible for caring for not only the feeding and cleaning but administer medicine as well. I later worked in the kennel side of a vets office for animals that were boarding. Throughout my life I continue to pet sit for friends and family as needed (I’m 37 for context).
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I just understand cats. Growing up with multiple cats at a time as an only child my focus was on watching their body language. I love meeting a new cat especially if a cat that is more nervous around new people warms up to me. I take that as a big win. I enjoy the independence cats carry about them.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
It’s a long list of cats but my moms house takes the cake. She has her cats, some failed foster cats and usually a rotation of a litter of kittens (she volunteers at Cat Angel Network). So each room is a different cat with a different personality. How I interact with them is all different depending on the cat. Some just want food and to be left alone, some won’t stop talking the moment you walk into the room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
