Cat Sitting in Trenton, SC

Hi, I'm Megan. I’m excited to connect with you and your cat before our first visit! Together, we’ll find a time to chat and ensure my services align perfectly with your cat’s needs. I believe in providing personalized care to create the best experience for your furbaby.

I’ve been working with animals since my teenage years and started professional pet-sitting in 2018. As a military spouse, a mom of a sophomore in college, and a pet mom to two cats and a senior golden retriever, I understand the need for a trusted pet sitter. I also have experience as an assistant vet tech, and my family and I foster animals with various needs.

Visits are designed to engage your cat while meeting their individual needs. Whether it's cuddling on the couch, playing games, or simply having a comforting chat, your cat will receive personalized attention to ease their separation from you. All visits also include litter boxes scooped and a wellness check...

I am experienced in medicating and handling cats with special needs and behavioral concerns. Senior cats are extra special, and I am happy to assist you in setting up a care plan that minimizes their stress and provides consistency when you're away. This involves a detailed discussion about your cat's routine, health conditions, and any specific needs they may have, to ensure they are comfortable and well-cared for during your absence.

For the well-being of indoor/outdoor cats, I adhere to strict safety measures. I do not let them outside at any point during a visit, even if it's part of their usual routine. This is to ensure the safety of your cat while you’re away. If you have feral/barn cats or pocket pets who need food and water, I am happy to provide that, always with their safety in mind.

My ultimate goal is to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your cats are in safe and caring hands. I understand that leaving them can be a source of concern, and I'm here to alleviate that worry. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

My current service area includes parts of Trenton, Graniteville, Edgefield, and North Augusta in South Carolina.

Learn More About Megan

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

Cats have always been a part of my life, and my commitment to caring for animals has been unwavering for 21 years. I've cared for the pets of family and friends, and in 2018, I took a significant step by establishing a small pet-sitting business at our previous duty station. This dedication continued as we moved to South Carolina, where we spent three fulfilling years in Kershaw County. In July 2023, we made our final military move to Edgefield County.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite reservations is a shy senior duo, Hurley and Bayou. I spent a lot of time with them, sitting quietly, reading softly, and singing gentle songs. These efforts paid off. Hurley would greet me with head butts, leg circles, and snuggles during glucose checks. Bayou became my spirited shadow, always by my side, playing peek-a-boo in tunnels, rolling across the floor for wand toys, and squeakily recounting her day. Their story is a powerful reminder of the importance of shaping visits to the needs of the cats and their humans.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two cats who started as fosters but permanently joined our family in 2023. Wren is a talkative, agile, and independent princess. She is terrified of vacuums and loves shoulder rides, sunbathing, and giving hugs. Although she often hides from newcomers, she is a social butterfly with her people and those she trusts. Beauregard is a fluffy and fearless daredevil who loves to recharge by making biscuits on your lap. He was chosen by our senior golden retriever, Cupid, who had been mourning the loss of his best friend, our senior cat. Cupid and Beau are rarely far from each other and can often be found snuggling and grooming one another. It's safe to say that Beau has been influenced by dog behaviors, mixed with his cat instincts—haha!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Before booking the first visit, I like to set up an initial phone call. This call is not just about discussing your cat's needs, but also a chance for you to get to know me, ask any questions, and share your cat's personality and routine. The next step is to meet at your home. This allows us time to review the areas your cats will be in and the locations of the items they need. During this visit, I interact with your cats at their own pace, allowing them to hear my voice and greet me if they're interested. This visit is also an opportunity for you to ask any remaining questions. From here, I check in before the booked visits regarding any changes and send updates with photos and notes after each visit.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I cautiously open doors before entering and exiting. If you have an escape artist, I also bring a large lid or bag to aid in blocking as I enter and exit. Please note that the Meowtel Promise does not apply to pets beyond your indoor cats.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I typically plan my travel outside of holiday dates. In the event that I’m unavailable, you will usually see my calendar updated months in advance.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Hands down, plastic coil spring toys are my favorite. A handful can probably be found under every piece of furniture I own, but they are loads of fun for fetch and catch games. In a close second, cat wands with a variety of attachment options, from feathers to bells, are one of my favorite ways to interact with cats.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

With shy or anxious cats, I take extra time during the initial visits to help them adjust to my presence. I often speak softly, read aloud, or even sing while I attend to their basic needs. It's not unusual to find me on the floor at a client's home, with my glasses placed between me and the cat to let them familiarize themselves with my scent and observe me in a less intimidating manner. I also carry a cat wand that attaches to their toys, aiming to engage them in interactive play with a familiar item once they feel more at ease with me.

Trust & Safety

Every reservation is backed by the Meowtel Promise, giving you and your cat world-class customer support every step of the way.

If it doesn't feel like the right fit at the Meet & Greet, or if you have any concerns during the reservation, please call 1-844-MEOWTEL (1-844-636-9835) so we can help you re-book with another sitter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

  • More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
  • 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
  • Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Trenton cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
