What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
As a cat owner and pet sitter for over 10 years, I recommend looking for someone with a cat specialty. Choose a patient, chill, and open-minded sitter who won’t pressure your cat to accept them on their terms or time table. Cats are not mini dogs and whoever you choose needs to be comfortable being rejected lol
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
First, we’ll set up a meet & greet. It’s important that the cat(s) get to see me, sniff me, and evaluate my worthiness to enter their domain. Then, we’ll discuss you cat sitting needs and any other vital information to ensure your pets get top quality care while you’re away.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I’m always mindful to keep entrances and exits (back doors, windows, garages, etc.) secure when pet sitting in a client‘s home. I like to keep a close eye on the animals’ whereabouts in case they try to get sneaky. And I usually just double check to make sure the front door is deadbolted when I leave.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! I don’t typically go away for the holidays. But just to be sure, check my calendar for my availability.
What is your favorite cat toy?
Laser pointer for sure. But I wouldn’t recommend spending a ton of money on cat paraphernalia. I guarantee they will prefer some old trash like a cardboard box or a random piece of string.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
My cat Ava suffers from anxiety. She has crazy mood swings and catnip and CBD products make it worse! I have found that she feels the most relaxed in nature, basking in the sunlight and chasing butterflies. She likes salmon jerkey and retiring to bed early for ear and chin scratchies while she drools on my chest. I use my understanding of the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce external stressors and give her more of the things she enjoys.

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
