My name is Jacob. Growing up I had cats at both of my parent's houses. It is because of this that I have developed a deep love and understanding for felines. They have long been my favorite animal (both domestic and wild).
I have a lifetime of experience caring for cats and co-own an animal care business. It is this intimate knowledge that I bring to your companions(s). I am a fairly laid back sitter but do love to play and engage with the animals that I care for, as long as they are interested. I never force myself on a cat as I grew up learning the consequences of those actions.
If you choose me as your cat's carer I promise they will have a new best friend.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
My favorite part is gaining the trust of a generally wary animal. There's nothing else like having a cat warm up to you and hearing it purr in contentment. It's heart meltingly adorable
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am often available during holidays as I don't tend to celebrate most of them and would rather be cuddled up with a cat on my lap!
What is your favorite cat toy?
The almighty laser pointer! I find that it seems to be the most entertaining for both the cat and the human

Jacob was VERY responsive to my texts, communicated well and clearly, and came over in advance to meet my 4 cats, all of whom came out to meet him as well. He has a gentle manner, they were all interested in him, and I liked the way he interacted with them. Jacob showed up when he was supposed to, stayed overnight, left my house in good condition, and most importantly, my cats appeared happy when I got home. Jacob stopped by the day afterward to pick up something and my rowdy cat ran over to him repeatedly and was clearly happy to see him! What I especially liked was that each time my cat came over to rub around Jacob's legs, Jacob bent down to stroke and talk to him in a natural way. He clearly enjoys cats. In talking with Jacob, he also seemed to "get" the personalities of all 4 of my cats, each of whom is quite different. Would ABSOLUTELY and UNEQUIVOCABLY recommend Jacob and I will be using him in the future.

Jacob was awesome. We have 2 kitties, one with special needs who required more than the normal care and he was wonderful with all the details. He made sure to send daily communications and brought in packages, kept the house tidy and made sure the kitties were well taken care of.

Excellent Service. He showed up every time and took the best care of my girl. She is still shy around others and usually won't come out but he stayed and actually caught a couple of glances of her. He made sure everything was perfect for her. I highly recommend him.

Jacob responded in a timely manner. He engaged with our cats very well, the shy one even warmed up enough to be brushed! We saw the video! The kitchen and litter boxes were very clean upon our return.

It is always comforting to know that when Jacob said he would be there, he was. Very dependable. I have a new cat who has been through a lot after her previous owner passed away. A new home, new routines, new sights and smells. She is shy around new people but he was able to catch a glance of her and see that she had food and water. I highly recommend him.

Jacob took wonderful care of my kitties, and he was able to connect even with the shy ones. He followed all the directions. Communication prior to the visit could have been a bit better, hence the 4 stars, but honestly all in all, Jacob was great and I will hire him in future.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Richmond cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Jacob was great! Even though my cats were "introverted" lol, he was still thorough and attentive and made sure their needs were met! Kudos to him for hanging in there with some absentee charges, especially twice a day!

Jacob first time sitting our 3 very odd rescue cats with different quirks and wasn’t phased! We felt very at ease the three days we had to be gone unexpectedly. Gave daily updates and cats just fine when we arrived. Would recommend him.
