Cat Sitting in Richmond, VA
In addition to cat sitting, I have a full-time office job so I'm not always available during... Cats are absolutely my favorite animal, and my friends and family members with cats all know that when I visit I'm often more excited to see their cats than them. Haha. For years I served as a cat sitter for my friends' cats when they went on vacation and needed someone to check in on them, feed them, clean their litter boxes, and give them some love and attention. I was thrilled to discover Meowtel in 2022 and have been sitting for many wonderful Meowtel clients since then!
In addition to cat sitting, I have a full-time office job so I'm not always available during the day on weekdays, but I'm happy to fit visits into my weekday schedule when I can, especially if you live in or near The Fan Neighborhood, Museum District, or Scott's Addition in Richmond, Virginia. I have more availability on the weekend, and I am willing and able to travel to other parts of the city and surrounding counties as well. I will closely follow all of your instructions and any safety precautions that you prefer to help keep you and your feline and human family members safe and healthy.
If you need a sitter for any dates when I'm not currently available, please send me a message. I'll be happy to check my schedule and accommodate your request if it is at all possible for me to open those dates on my calendar. What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy cat sitting because I think cats are just the cutest things on earth! Cats bring me a wonderful sense of calm and contentment and I love being around them. I try to help them feel as comfortable as possible in my presence. I'm also happy to know that I'm helping to give cat parents peace of mind when they are away from their precious ones. I love getting to meet so many different cats and cat parents through Meowtel.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My family had 3 friendly, active cats when I was growing up who all lived to be over 17 years old. Their names were Allegra, Peach, and Twinkie. I helped feed them and clean their litter boxes every day as a child and teen. I loved playing with them and cuddling them. Shortly after graduating from college, I got my own precious cat from a friend of a friend whose cat had kittens. I loved and cared for him his whole life. (His name was Maomi and he is the adorable tuxedo cat featured in my photo gallery.) My parents' beautiful gray tabby Emmy is currently living with me and I love her so much!

As Sarah is absolutely wonderful with our cat, Brody. He’s a bit fussy with strangers and she’s able to keep him perfectly calm, happy, and content (even getting him to play a bit) when she watches him. She does an excellent job and is extremely communicative and sends us regular updates.

Sarah is absolutely the best! She was flexible in working with us when we needed to cut off the water to our house during the vacation. Her updates were specific and she included cute videos of our cat. When our floor got messy she asked where she could find a broom to sweep the mess!! What wonderful initiative and care! Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Richmond cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

I was leaving my kitten for the first time and was very anxious about it. Sarah immediately made me feel at ease. While away, Sarah updated me with pictures and how my kitten was doing. Sarah traveled a long way twice daily to check in on and care for our 10-year-old diabetic cat, Max. He’s a hider and definitely doesn’t want anything to do with strangers, but Sarah did a great job of finding him, comforting him and administering his insulin with great results. Our vacation was so much more enjoyable knowing that Sarah was providing such consistent care. She kept us fully informed during and after each visit; communication was top-notch and very much appreciated. We’d highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for cat care.

Sarah went far beyond my highest expectations. All the basics, like showing up on time and doing the tasks were done perfectly. But she also spent quality time with my cat and sent charming videos every day. When I got home it was clear that my girl had been well cared for.
