Cat Sitting in Fountain Hills, AZ

Hi! I have lots of experience with all sorts of cats, from friendly, in-your-face snugglers to quiet, wary kitties to high-maintenance divas! I always go at the cat’s pace and strive to provide them with a comfortable, safe environment. I will match your cat’s energy. If they want to play with a wand, I’ll dance around the room with them! And if they want to simply share the space and look out the window, I’ll be their birdwatching buddy. Your cat is my priority, full stop. I am comfortable giving medications such as liquids, pills, topic ointments, and subcutaneous fluids, and I will follow complicated feeding routines to a T. You'll also get some amazing photos of your cat! You are entrusting me with your cat and your home, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

I have been cat sitting for just over four years now, but prior to that I worked for a few years at a vet clinic as their Kennel Technician. I took care of all the boarded animals, from dogs and cats to sugar gliders! I have had pets...

I have been cat sitting for just over four years now, but prior to that I worked for a few years at a vet clinic as their Kennel Technician. I took care of all the boarded animals, from dogs and cats to sugar gliders! I have had pets my whole life, and currently have two cats, Ollie and Sweets, both around 3 years old. Although they both are very sweet, they have very different personalities. Ollie loves to play and always wants to be right in the middle of the action, but not necessarily cuddled, while Sweets is (usually) a little quieter and a bit more anxious - unless he's in his cat tree. While Ollie is sure of himself no matter where he is, Sweets goes to the top of his tree when he wants his own space. I call that his "Bubble." All cats, like humans, are different, and sometimes we need our downtime in our own little corner. The top of the cat tree is that corner for Sweets, and I tell every guest who comes in to respect his space when he goes up there. It's important for me that our animals feel safe and secure in our homes, because it's their home too. I bring that same attitude to every cat I sit - I just want them to feel safe and secure so they can live their best lives.

My beloved cat Finnigan passed away at the end of February this year at 17 and a half years old. We grew up together - my family adopted him when I was eight and he was six months old. He had quite a few chronic conditions and was on a regiment of medications to ensure a high quality of life. Through caring for him, I learned not only about a wide variety of conditions and medications, but also how to sit and simply be present in the world. He was calm and unbothered by anything (even the vacuum cleaner!), and the type of cat who just wanted to sit on your lap all day. Sweets is a bit anxious and always looked to Finnigan for confidence and reassurance, so when Finns passed I specifically looked for a confident cat to continue supporting Sweets. I certainly found one in Ollie! I miss Finnigan every day, but it's been wonderful watching friendship blossom between Sweets and Ollie.

Learn More About Stirling

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been a cat sitter for just over four years now. Before that, I worked at a veterinary clinic as a Kennel Technician, so I cared for all sorts of cats and dogs that boarded during their owner’s trips. I am comfortable giving medications and caring for senior cats. I know senior cats often have special diets and medications they must receive on time, or even experience decreased mobility and require accessibility aids such as steps so they can still reach their favorite napping spot or bird-watching perch. I have often been entrusted with caring for senior/disabled cats, and it's an honor I don't take lightly. Just as kittens have certain needs, so do seniors. It is my job to ensure the cats I watch experience the highest quality of care and companionship.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I recently did some overnight pet sitting for a women who had two small dogs and a rather large cat. The moment I stepped in the house, the dogs ran for their favorite toys to bring to me, and Jasper, a big black cat, watched me from the archway. I sat down on a nearby couch to greet him but still give him space, and he immediately jumped into my lap. I wasn't expecting that! I sat there the for the next hour and a half, tossing balls for the dogs to fetch with one hand, and petting Jasper with the other. He was so big he covered my whole lap even curled up. I couldn't get up even if I wanted to! He purred and napped, and the dogs eventually curled up next to us on the couch as well. It was wonderful.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two cats, Ollie and Sweets. I adopted Ollie in May, after my senior kitty passed. He is very self-confident! He always wants to be right in the action and loves to be petted, but maybe not cuddled. Sweets is a little agent of chaos! I adopted him from a local rescue a couple years ago and he has brought such light to my life. He and Ollie are still figuring out their different play styles and boundaries, but it's been wonderful watching their friendship blossom. Both Ollie and Sweets are rescues, as all of my pets have been. I have loved watching Sweets come into his own. He was very skittish when I first got him, but he gains confidence from those around him and has become much much more self-assured.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Every cat has a different favorite toy, so I'm going to cheat and say my favorite toy is the one that makes the cat go wild with excitement! My young cat Sweets absolutely loves these little fruit-patterned mice - he's currently playing with the orange one. He goes nuts. And if I throw that mouse in a box - it's his Disneyland. He'll play for hours. Ollie loves to charge through his tunnel (bonus points if he tackles Sweets), but his favorite is a rainbow wand - he'll carry it around the house meowing for someone to play with him! My late cat, Finnigan, didn't care for toys, but wired earbuds and hoodie strings? He'd bat and bite at them until he wore himself out (or I wore my back out from bending over). He even pulled earbuds out of my ears just so he could play with them!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I always ask for as much information as possible on any cats I watch. I want to know their personality, their favorites treats and toys, and their favorite hideouts. I ask for this so I know how to make sure they are comfortable with me. I always sit down a few feet away, avert my gaze so I’m not making direct eye contact, and hold out my hand for them to sniff. If they are treat motivated, I will hold out some for them to form a positive association. If they are particularly timid, I’ll drop the treats a foot away from them, give them a few minutes, and then slowly stand and walk away to clean or feed. This way, they’ve met me but the attention isn’t all on them, so they can feel comfortable observing me knowing that I won’t pressure them into a relationship.

Oh GOODNESS we are SO Grateful for the WONDERFUL care, Dear Stirling provided for our 5 kitties!!! I was so nervous and then Stirling came for a pre-visit and all my fears melted away! It was so true throughout the whole trip too. I am sure the cats had way more fun when we were gone because of Stirling! There were layers too. Two cats needed medicine and I just didn't know how it would go - it went perfectly (which I think is very complicated and takes both me and my husband usually) and even when Stirling had to prepare the medicine and required the opening of Amazon boxes :) Pictures and videos were sent to us and really the peace of mind was just fabulous! I could just tell the cats were in such kind, competent, caring, and fun hands! The whole experience was amazing and I think it a true divine gift! Thanks to Stirling for sharing your GOODNESS with us and the kitties! Love from us and Ginny, White Cat, Ricky-Bobby, Joseph, and the ever elusive Sophia!!

I would highly recommend Stirling to you if you’re in the area and need a kind, patient, and highly professional cat sitter. Stirling took care of my old man kitty Jack for a week and she did a fabulous job with him. I got daily updates on how he was doing and pictures showing how content he was. When I arrived home everything was clean and looked neater than when I left. Booking is easy and painless and the app updates you when you have messages. It’s a great service.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Fountain Hills cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
