What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have had and cared for cats since I was a child, but have been pet sitting for cats since 2008. The experience I have is feeding, cleaning cat litter, playing with kitties and administering oral medications, ear and eye drops and subcutaneous fluids.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What do I enjoy the most about cat sitting? The cats, of course! :) I love cats very much. I love their quirky and varied personalities and how darn cute they are. I enjoy building bonds with cats. Most cats are shy, so I enjoy when they slowly come out and trust me over time. Eventually we become besties and we hang out and play. That’s a great feeling.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite reservation was with a cat that was very shy. Her mom was adamant she wouldn’t come out. Over time she did come out and now, every time I sit for her, she gets very excited to see me!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! I have a long- haired black cat named Spooky. I adopted her when she was 3 months old in 2021. She is a sweet and funny lil’ babe.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
My advice is to ask for and check a sitter’s references. If you’re not sure what to ask when contacting the references, google some tips on how to do so. It’s very important that you find someone who doesn’t just say they’re a great sitter, but has the proof to back it up! Lastly when you find a good fit, ask for updates and pics/videos when you’re away if the sitter doesn’t offer to do so. That way, you’ll be at ease when you’re away and the sitter is with your babies.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I ask a lot of questions to get to know the cat(s). I offer references. I assure them that I will provide pics and video so they know they’re cats are doing well.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
First in the interview process, I find out what the cat’s personalities are like. I ask that to make sure the cats aren’t going to dart out of the house for example. Then while I’m sitting, I always make sure that the doors and windows are closed and locked. I also make sure that there is nothing that cats can get into that may be dangerous, like a container they can climb into or a pantry with food that may be harmful.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am available during holidays. I tend to book up quickly so I recommend booking early, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year’s Eve.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I guess it depends on what the cat likes. I don’t have a favorite cat toy, per se, but I do enjoy the wands with something dangling off of it like a feather or bells. Cats seems to really enjoy them and it makes me giggle in delight when playing with them! :)
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I always let cats come to me on their own terms. If they don’t want to socialize with me, that’s ok. They need to feel comfortable. If they do want to socialize, I try to get down on their level and again let them come to me. I’m also careful of my voice volume as to not startle them.

She took such great care of Rico and kept us updated with so many pictures and videos, which meant everything to us while we were away. You could tell she genuinely cared and was attentive, thoughtful, and reliable every step of the way. Rico was clearly comfortable and happy, and coming home knowing she was in such good hands made the whole experience completely stress free. We couldn’t have asked for a better first experience and would 100% book Janine again. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy sitter!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Phoenix cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Janine was sweet, attentive, and communicative. When my cat escaped through a window overnight (something he’d NEVER done before!), Janine vowed to stay at my apartment until he’d come home. Janine was so wonderful, we strongly recommend her if you’re looking for a pet sitter! She looked after our two cats while we were away for several days, and kept us updated every day about when she was going to the house, how the kitties were doing, and sent us lots of pics.
