What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have at least 10 years of cat sitting experience. I also have had cats since I was a child. I also worked at a cat only shelter for 11 years and currently volunteer at a shelter.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Getting to meet new cats. I have never met a cat I didn't love. Even the shy ones, the spicey ones, the cranky ones, the old ones, or the sick ones.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite is a regular senior Siamese kitty named Alfred. He is very vocal and sleeps on a stool next to the door window and meows loudly and insistently. He follows me around and instantly jumps into my lap when I sit down for cuddles and a good blushing.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, just three at the moment. First, Lovie who just showed up one day in my yard. I think a neighbor must have abandoned him because he was clearly not feral. I picked him up and he liked my face, hence his name. I don't know his exact age but he is at least 12. Second is Shelly, she is 11 years old and was my very first foster failure from the cat only shelter that I worked for. Third, is Mousey. She is also 11 and I inherited her from a dear friend that I met while she was a volunteer at the shelter. I love them all so much and they are my babies as I have no children.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to meet them at least one day prior to get feeding instructions, meet the cat(s), and get a key or code.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
The number one thing is to be careful going in and out all doors or the garage to ensure that the cat(s) don't get out!
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes as my husband and I don't have family in the state and are happy to stay at home rather than travel during the holidays.
What is your favorite cat toy?
The laser light of course! Feather wand toys are also usually a big hit.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I would walk up to them very slowly while talking in a low voice. Possibly offer some treats. Start by petting them with a long wand or soft toy.

Tanya was absolutely amazing! She kept me updated the entire time I was gone and sent me pictures everyday. My cat had an upset stomach and was throwing up and Tanya cleaned the mess and made sure I knew my cat was okay. Tanya is wonderful and I absolutely will be booking with her again!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Surprise cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
