More importantly, I really love cats! My baby Summer is the light of my life. I do have the experience of going into people’s homes (as both a social worker and a pet sitter) and try to be very respectful of a client’s space and their cat’s needs, of course! I do enjoy giving affection, as your kitty will allow, and can also enjoying brushing and grooming them if they are’t shy! I would love to have the opportunity to take care of your kitty!

Learn More About Laurie

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know cat and building a relationship, on their terms, so they can feel safe and nurtured for the short time I’m with them. They each have individual personalities. I like to give them affection and just be with them as they do whatever “cat” thing it is they want to do. I like it when I feed them or give them treats because it makes them happy. I also enjoy taking a few pictures of the kitty that I always send to the owner after the visit! It makes me feel good to know that, hopefully, I can help them feel a little less lonely during that time that their owner is away.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I worked with a cat who had cancer and needed daily medication. He had liver issues and took a medication that made him poop quite a bit. This kitty really loved the Delectables food for liquid, concentrated nutrition. He was just the sweetest boy, and would come out to let me give him affection every visit. Cleaning his litter box was never a chore! He was a pleasure, and would come out from his hiding place in the closet and greet me each time.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes. I have an 11 year old kitty named Summer. She is the light of my life! Summer enjoys being an only cat. She likes sitting on my porch, playing with the penlight toy, and taking naps underneath my bathroom sink.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would tell them to look for someone who likes cats and has some experience taking care of them. Each cat is unique, and it can be very helpful to let the cat make the first move when you meet!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to complete a meet and greet with the cat parent and, of course, the cat! I go over any care needs, preferred times of drop-in visits, and anything that the parent thinks will help the cat stay happy while they are away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I always check and doublecheck that any doors or windows are secured. If there are hazards that the owner makes me aware of, I avoid those. I also follow the cat parent’s instructions and that usually covers it.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes. I don’t have family here and often don’t have specific holiday plans. If I’m not, I’ll reflect it on my calendar.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Catnip mouse. Top off milk container. Twisty tie. My cat’s favorite toy is a pen light. We do it every morning.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I let the cat come to me. I try not to make any sudden moves or noises that might frighten the cat. And, I’m just patient with them. It’s really on the cat’s terms.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Tucson cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
