My love for cats stretches back to my childhood, and sometimes I wonder if it isn't genetic because I come from a long line of cat people. Besides growing up around cats and having my own as an adult, I have trained and volunteered at numerous shelters and rescues over the years. Since starting with Meowtel in 2022, I've been fortunate to establish repeat clients, allowing me to build up relationships with some truly wonderful kitties and their humans. I cat sit for my own love of animals, but also in memoriam of my beloved Ming kitty. She was my companion for 15 years before I lost her to cancer. What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I started formally cat sitting in 2022 and have had a variety of clients. There are the shy cats who I hardly see, but will talk to nonetheless. There are the high maintenance kitties with special diets and medications. There are the love bugs who want all the pets. There are the chatty ones who I have great conversations with. I've had a couple with behavioral issues and my experience in shelters has come in handy. I'm also not above doing research when necessary. As much as I know, there's always more for me to learn.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Any time I get to spend with cats is quality time in my book. That said, the most fulfilling part is giving the human clients peace of mind. Whatever has called them away from home, be it personal or business, a happy occasion or not, if I can eliminate the stress that comes with leaving their cat/s behind, then that is the best thing I can give them. I want them to enjoy their time, handle responsibilities, and do whatever it is they need to do without the distraction of worry. I do that by taking the best possible care of the cats in my care, an amazingly fun job, but also one I take very seriously.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Schedule the meet and greet at least a week out. Ask questions and trust your gut. If you aren't completely comfortable, try to find another option. If you do a meet and greet only a couple days before you need a sitter, you may not have time to find an alternative and you may not be able to cancel the reservation without penalty. Give yourself time to make adjustments.

Rebecca took excellent care of our 3 cats. We loved the photos of our furbabies with timely updates. She went above & beyond, spending time with our kitties, giving them treats, playing with them, and taking wonderful care of them. Rebecca charmed my cat. I expected him to hide, but he came out to play and for pets. he even rested with his back up against her like he does with me. I feel completely comfortable knowing Chomper is happy while I’m gone.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
