What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have 35 years of experience caring for animals through personal companions, foster organizations, and rescue organizations. I began caring for cats other than my own at the age of ten, working as a foster and adoption coordinator for a local cat rescue. I briefly worked as a vet tech assistant, where I learned to work with animals of all kinds in a medical capacity. I am trained in socialization, fostering, adoption, and some medical procedures. I have experience with social anxiety and kitties with special needs of all kinds.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Meowtel allows me to share my love of kitties and the animal community, bringing joy through helping others and socializing with furry friends. As a cat mom myself, I understand the importance of having a trusted ally for our furry friends. Cat sitting brings me great joy, and I am grateful to provide owners with peace of mind while they travel or take time away from home.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Currently, I have three kitties of my own: Jedi Master, a special needs kitty, Moon Bear, my black panther, and Freckles, our rambunctious girl. Cats bring joy to my heart, and I could not imagine a life without them.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I am big on client experience and like to build a strong rapport. Normally, I will conduct an introductory meeting in person or via Zoom. At that time, we can discuss any specific needs, concerns, or requests to ensure a good pairing for all. I aim to become a trusted resource and remain open to the client's needs.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety & security is the number one concern. I ensure that all directives are followed and that any security measures are thoroughly understood and completed. If there is ever a concern or question, I will contact you directly to advise and resolve.

Are you usually available during holidays?

At this time, I plan to remain available through most major holidays. My calendar is updated regularly, but if you would like to reserve before a calendar update, please feel free to contact me directly.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

With decades of experience with cats, I fully understand they run the show. Some pets are friendly, wanting love and attention, while others want nothing more than to hide. Both are perfectly acceptable and based on the client's and pet's needs, I will follow suit, letting the pet guide at the time of the interaction. If medication or specific interaction is required, I take my time building trust with the pet through sight and smell before introducing touch. I want them to build trust and have them warm up before anything else. I always work with clients to learn about their pets and create a care plan if there are specific needs.
