My name is Melissa, and I am a cat lady! I currently am owned by 3 black cats: Basil, Romeo and Noche, which are all under 6 years of age, and one dog, an 11-year-old chihuahua named Gypsee.
Basil and Romeo are my furry alarm clocks, while Noche is my secret love, when her brothers aren't looking.
I do not offer overnight care but can commit to multiple daily visits, including but not limited to: pilling for oral medications, intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections and fluids, litter care, and even basic home care! I am Fear Free Certified, so my way of approach and hands on care is very gentle, slow and patient - compared to traditional techniques taught in schools. I will strive to connect with your shyest cats during my visits ☺️
I have been in the veterinary field for 12 years as a veterinary technician, leader and manager of veterinary hospitals.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy meeting new cats because I find their behavior and body language very interesting. I believe I can win over most cats with my patience and cat-like brain.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have three black cats at home. My Persian is my oldest and his name is Basil. Romeo and Noche are my domestic short hairs.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I have made myself available in the past for major holidays.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Each cat has their own timeline when it comes to new people. I follow their cues and stay patient, 80% of the time we become best friends by the second day of the reservation.

Melissa was absolutely terrific with my two shy cats! The braver of the two warmed up to Melissa immediately, accepting lots of pets and playtime from day 1 (which is very unusual for her, and made me so happy to see!). My more anxious cat prefers to stay hidden while other humans are around, and Melissa was also great about giving him the space that he needs to feel comfortable.

One of our kitties came to the door with me when Melissa came back to give back our key. I think this was great sign. Buster came with me and he's usually shyer. So, he was charmed by her. We came back to a clean house and happy kitties. Very happy to be back and to find such a lovely return.

Melissa met us at scheduled time for meet and greet. She was professional. She took notes and asked questions. While we were away she communicated with us by texting and send pics/videos. She even got our shy cats to come out. She followed instructions on pet care and even feed the out door cats! I highly recommend Melissa and will use her again in the future!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Los Angeles cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $34.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
