I currently work on research... Hi! I am a total animal lover, but cats are definitely my favorites! I grew up with and have had multiple cats as pets, my housemates have always had cats, and I love spending time with my friends’ cats. I’ve been cat sitting for almost 25 years for friends and through other services similar to Meowtel. I have always been a natural cat whisperer and even super shy or grumpy cats warm up to me quickly. During drop in visits, if I have the time, I don’t mind spending extra time playing with or petting your cats when they are really enjoying my company, mostly because I just love being around cats. I look forward to caring for your kitties!
I currently work on research vessels in Antarctica during the winter months and at professional motorcycle races during the summer months. Since I travel a lot for work, I very sadly cannot have a cat of my own at this time. That’s why I love cat sitting (when I am home), so I can get still get some kitty loving and spend some quality time with them to fill that void in my life.
I am comfortable caring for cats with special needs and elderly cats. I have experience giving cats various medications (pills, oral medications, inhalers, eye & ear drops, topical medications, subcutaneous fluids, insulin injections and syringe feeding). I have human medical care training which also makes me comfortable caring for cats with special needs. I am available to do multiple drop in visits a day, as well as overnight stays with your cat. Mornings and evenings are the best times for me to do drop in visits. I always try to clean up any messes that occur and make sure you come home to a clean house.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for more than 25 years for family, friends and clients. I have taken care of an extensive variety of cat personalities with various medical needs.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
My favorite part of cat sitting is kitty snuggles and hearing a cat purr. I really love the affection that some cats can give.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I feel very satisfied after being able to befriend a shy or anxious kitty. I have cared for several shy kitties now and successfully befriended almost all of them!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My last cat’s name was Balentine. I don’t currently have any cats since I travel too much for work. I hope to be able to get another cat soon since I do love their companionship.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
It’s always good to read through a sitter’s profile and make sure they are capable of handling any special needs or medications that your cat may have before booking with them. If your cat does have any special needs, make sure that is clearly laid out for the sitter prior to the booking to ensure a good fit so that your cat is getting the care they require.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I read over all provided cat and home care material before a meet and greet to make sure I can have any questions answered. I like to do in-person meet and greets to meet the cats and owners ahead of time and see where everything is kept. I take notes during the meet and greet to ensure I have a clear understanding of the care required and the expected routine. After my visits I always send an update and some photos.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I’m always careful while opening the door to ensure none of the cats escape when I am entering or existing a home. I double check doors have been closed and locked when I leave to ensure the security of the home. I make sure to follow all pet parent rules regarding windows being open.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am often available during holidays. I make sure to update my calendar for any holidays I am not available for.
What is your favorite cat toy?
It’s always fun to play with a wand toy with the cats. I really enjoy seeing the random things that cats choose as their favorite toy, like boxes or packing papers or a-tips, lol.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Around timid or anxious cats I try to make sure I’m quiet and make slow movements so I don’t startle them. I will sit quietly and try to coax them out with treats so they can get to know me, but allow them to approach me at their own pace. I will hold my hand so they can smell me before I try petting them. I’m always mindful of their behavior and will back away if they seem uncomfortable or stressed. I have been able to successfully befriend many anxious and shy kitties.

Heather traversed literal floods to come take care of Lemon. He also has special medication needs and she immediately was comfortable and did a great job of giving it to him. He took to her right away and she was super communicative the entire time. She was the first person who wasn't a close friend of mine to take care of Lemon and she knocked it out of the park. Heather was AMAZING!! She cared for my two cats over the weekend and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. One cat is very shy and has diabetes, requiring blood sugar checks and insulin. I wasn’t so sure my shy cat would cooperate and let a stranger poke him, but Heather took the time to meet him beforehand and did her own research on how to approach the situation. I was beyond happy to receive updates after each visit saying that she had success with him and that everything went well! She sent detailed messages after every visit and sent so many adorable pictures of them 😻 I couldn’t say enough how grateful I was for her patience and care with my two cats.

She’s a pro at giving sub-q fluids and even had our boy purring during fluids time! And she spent extra time with him while he was constipated and refusing to eat, helping him feel as comfy as possible. She’ll absolutely be our go-to sitter whenever she’s in town!

I couldn't be happier with the care my cat Mia received! Mia is quite anxious and sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, so I was a bit worried about leaving her. However, Heather was incredibly patient and understanding of Mia's unique needs, and she took the time to make her feel comfortable and safe. Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Los Angeles cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $34.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
