What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've worked with cats for over five years as a kennel keeper at a nonprofit animal organization, where I cared for cats by feeding them, cleaning their living spaces, monitoring their health and behavior, and helping keep them comfortable and stress-free. In addition to my professional experience, I've been cat sitting for close friends and family since I was a teenager. As the owner of two cats myself, I understand how important it is to provide patient, reliable, and attentive care while keeping each cat's routine as consistent as possible so they feel safe and secure.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Your cat's safety is my top priority. I always double check that doors, windows, and gates are securely closed before entering or leaving your home to prevent escapes. I follow all care instructions carefully, including feeding, medications, and any special needs. During each visit, I watch for changes in behavior, appetite, or health and will contact you immediately if I notice anything concerning. I also keep the environment clean, remove potential hazards when possible, and make sure your cat has fresh food, water, and a clean litter box. My goal is to provide a safe, calm, and secure experience while you're away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When caring for anxious cats, I let them set the pace. I never force interaction and always respect their boundaries. I speak softly, move slowly, and keep their routine as consistent as possible to help them feel secure. I'll make sure they have fresh food, water, a clean litter box, and spend time nearby so they can approach me when they're comfortable. I pay close attention to body language and provide gentle enrichment, like quiet play or treats if the owner approves. My goal is to build trust, reduce stress, and make each visit a calm, positive experience for every cat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Los Angeles cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $36.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
