What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve watched many cats. I’ve been doing it off and on for about twenty years I guess. And I’ve had animals all my life, including cats.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I think cats are great. They’re innately cool. I like figuring out their individual personalities. And I like just spending time with them in general since I don’t have a cat of my own.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I’m not exactly sure what this question is since I’ve never cat sat on this app. My favorite stint cat sitting was with a cat named Mabel. I watched her for years whenever her owner went out of town. Mabel liked having her space but I won her over. I mean she still liked her space but she also liked me. And she did like to play, on her terms. Mabel was on a special diet so I made sure to only feed her exact portions for every meal. She slept in bed with me every night.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I don’t currently have cats of my own but I had two for many years. They were brothers, one grey, one orange. Their names were Spider and Terrance Stamp

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you want, even if you think they’re small or obvious. Communication really is key. If something is extra important for me to know, never hurts to reiterate it. I know leaving your kitty can be stressful and I want to do whatever I can to help relieve that anxiety

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I’m not sure how it works logistically on Meowtel but speaking with them beforehand is what I usually do. Perhaps it’s all through text on here, which is fine too. Then I ask what questions they have and ask any questions of my own. I just want to make sure that I understand very clearly everything they need. I ask about their cat’s personality and what they need from me in the area of keeping them company, beyond just putting out new food and water and changing the litter box. And then we go over the schedule and the logistics and discuss what to do if I need to reach them while they’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure nothing is out that the cat could chew on or swallow. I take photos of the cat once I get there and also of the cat inside once I’m leaving. And photos of any doors I’ve gone through, to show that they’re closed and locked

Are you usually available during holidays?

Usually yes. My family is from California so I don’t leave to see them during the holidays. And when I travel, it tends to me during off holiday times

What is your favorite cat toy?

The cat dancer! It’s a classic. Or the laser pointer. Or a nice little catnipped filled mouse. Whatever your cat likes, I’m happy to entertain them with

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I give them their space, allow them to come to me in their own time. Or if they don’t want to, that’s okay too. It’s all about adjusting to their wavelength

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
