What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have over 12 years of hands-on experience providing cat care, including regular in-home visits for friends while they travel. I’ve also raised my own two cats from kittens to seniors, giving me a strong understanding of cats at every life stage. I’ve successfully managed their international relocation from China to the U.S., an experience that required careful planning and a deep understanding of feline stress and behavior. Over time, this has made me especially attentive to different personalities, daily routines, and subtle changes in health or mood. My focus is always on creating a calm, consistent, and safe environment so each cat feels secure and well cared for in their own home.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety is my top priority. I perform a "headcount" as soon as I enter and before I leave to ensure your cat is safe. I’m extremely careful with doors and windows to prevent escapes. Regarding the home, I double-check that all locks are secure, water bowls are full, and no hazards are left out.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I approach timid or anxious cats with patience, calm energy, and respect for their boundaries. I never force interaction and always allow the cat to come to me on their own terms. I’ve raised two cats from kittens who have very different personalities—one is very social, while the other is naturally shy. This has given me firsthand experience in understanding how different cats respond to people and environments, and how important it is to adjust my approach for each individual cat. I pay close attention to body language and subtle cues, and I’m comfortable simply sitting quietly nearby if that’s what helps the cat feel safe. Over time, this allows trust to build naturally without adding stress. Having also supported my cats through major transitions, including an international relocation, I’m very familiar with how stress can affect behavior. My goal is always to create a calm, predictable environment so the cat feels secure,

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
