My very first word was “Shadow”—the name of our family’s black cat—so it’s safe to say I’ve loved cats from the very beginning. Since then, I’ve had the joy of sharing life with a number of amazing cats, from Lucy, the tortoiseshell who insisted I stay by her side while she gave birth, to Alfie, my soulmate in fur who brought me years of companionship, laughter, and love... Hi, I’m Kristen – a lifelong cat lover and your kitty’s next best friend!
My very first word was “Shadow”—the name of our family’s black cat—so it’s safe to say I’ve loved cats from the very beginning. Since then, I’ve had the joy of sharing life with a number of amazing cats, from Lucy, the tortoiseshell who insisted I stay by her side while she gave birth, to Alfie, my soulmate in fur who brought me years of companionship, laughter, and love. I’ve cared for kittens, senior cats, and even a sweet girl with lymphoma, giving medications and managing vet visits with patience and compassion.
Most recently, I said goodbye to Sophie, my polydactyl (extra toes!) tortie who kept me on my toes in all the best ways. This is the first time in my life I haven’t had a cat, and while it’s been an adjustment, I’d love to share my time and affection by caring for other people’s beloved kitties.
Whether your cat is shy and needs gentle coaxing or outgoing and wants a lap to curl up in, I’ll treat them like my own—with attention, kindness, and respect for their unique personality.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I love most about cat sitting is earning a cat’s trust. Cats are naturally independent and selective with their affection, so when one chooses to sit near you, purr, or seek out your company, it feels like a true honor. It means you've broken through their walls and they see you as safe and worthy of their attention. That quiet connection—built on patience and respect—is incredibly rewarding. I love being that steady, gentle presence for cats while their people are away, making sure they feel secure, seen, and loved in their own unique way.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I don’t currently have any cats, which feels strange because I’ve had cats all my life. My most recent companions were Alfie and Sophie—two incredible tortoiseshell cats with big personalities. Alfie was especially dear to me; we had a deep bond, and I cared for her through a serious illness. Sophie was wonderfully quirky and full of life until she passed from old age. While I’m not quite ready to adopt again, I miss the presence of cats deeply. Cat sitting helps me stay close to what I love and fill that cat-shaped space in my heart—at least for now.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I approach timid or anxious cats with patience, respect, and a calm presence. I never force interaction—instead, I let them set the pace and create a quiet, predictable environment. Having had several tortoiseshell cats, I’m very familiar with unpredictability and mood shifts. Torties have taught me to read subtle body language and respond with empathy. I know that trust with a nervous cat can take time, and I’m always honored when they choose to let me in. My goal is to make every cat feel safe and seen, no matter how shy or sensitive they may be.

Kristen was amazing! We have two wonderful cats who are very accustomed to their routines and it can be challenging having someone outside their situation step in and help care for them, but they took to Kristen right away. We even had an issue crop up with one of our cats' eyes requiring medical attention, and Kristen was super supportive and communicated openly about everything she observed while there with the cats. We look forward to working with her again for future sitting needs! Highly recommend!!

Kristen was everything I hoped for and more!!! During the meet and greet l, I could tell right away she had a genuine love for pets. She attentive listened to all my concerns and instructions. Duirng my trip, Kristen made sure to seek out and take pictures of my kitties even though they decide to not be sociable and hide when she was here! Best was that I was able to enjoy my trip knowing my kitties were safe and in wonderful care! I will definitely hire Kristen for future trips!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Petaluma cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $42.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

This was a one-nighter preceded by a meeting and greet. Kristen was very friendly and thorough in our initial conversation and is clearly a cat lover!
