What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Hiring a stranger can be scary. Only trust responsive people who are also cat owners to watch your cats. People who are willing to text daily updates on their welfare and know where to go in an emergency. Eventually they won’t be a stranger! People who typically dogsit or don’t have cats might work too, but many people don’t know to open doors carefully so cats don’t escape, for example. I’ve been opening doors footfirst for half my life (even at houses without cats, it’s such a habit!) I am willing to provide updates on your cats every visit. I will help you fill out a Vet Release Form so your kitty gets the right care in the unlikely event of an emergency. I want you to feel safe to leave knowing your cat will be loved and cared for like I care for my own.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I want to answer any questions a cat parent has about me so that they don’t feel they’re leaving their fur baby and home in the hands of a complete stranger. Then I’ll ask the questions- what are your kitty’s habits, quirks, preferences? Are they taking any medication? How would you prefer I spend time with them? Who is your vet? Would you like me to send photo updates while you’re gone? Then I’ll note this information and have it for as long as we work together!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

First-I understand your cat’s personality, habits, and special needs. Also I make sure to have your phone number, your vet’s, and your emergency vet’s number. Second- I always enter home foot first to make sure no one escapes! Third-I keep the doors locked while inside. Throughout my visit I keep track of the cat’s whereabouts, and keep all reclining chairs closed in case they like to hide underneath! I also remain vigilant of the surroundings outside the house. Finally, after my visit I make sure the door is locked and the cat is both safe, fed, and happy.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I give especially timid cats a lot of time and space to warm up to a new person. I’ll make little sounds that they may find familiar and welcoming like a short trill that mother cats make to their kittens (at least my cat Sarabi did!). If they don’t want to be touched, why force them unless it’s for their safety? I am a fan of lying on the ground near an anxious cat doing my own thing so eventually they see I’m not scary and may even be fun. My own cat, Bear, is particularly anxious so I know it can be done!

We have four cats and all of them have pretty specific needs! Alli went above and beyond on taking care of them! I got daily photos and updates. When I got home I could tell my cats were well loved and taken care of! It’s so nice to be able to leave for a vacation, stress free, knowing the furballs are going to be safe! Alli was able to administer medication to my cat as well! This isn’t in her job description but she also took in packages at my front door and rinsed the cat food dishes. If you have cats, you know how smelly those cats dishes with dried wet food can get! My house also didn’t smell which means she scooped the litter daily and must of cleaned up a few messes. If you want someone who is super detail oriented and has a heart of gold look no further and book Alli next time you need to go out of town! I swear, she speaks cat! Thank you Alli!

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
