I'm Crysta

Cat Sitting in San Clemente, CA

Hi! I’m Crysta, a lifelong cat mom, rescue magnet, foster fail and rightfully accused β€œcat whisperer.” 😻

Cats have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, sometimes having as many as six at once! Over the years, I’ve welcomed rescues from the street and taken in cats from friends and family who could no longer care for them. Today, I’m happily ruled by Rajah, Filou, and Charley, three former rescue kittens who are now 12, 12, and 10 yrs old and living very comfortable, entitled lives.

I genuinely understand cats. They have their own personalities, boundaries, ways of communicating, and ideas about how things should be done. Shy, cautious, and β€œdifficult” kitties are actually some of my favorites. I never force affection or interaction. Instead, I let your cat set the pace, learn what makes them comfortable, and earn their trust. There’s nothing better than winning over the kitty everyone swore would never come out from under the bed!

During our visits, I’ll take care of the essentials like feeding, fresh water, and litter, but that’s only the beginning...

During our visits, I’ll take care of the essentials like feeding, fresh water, and litter, but that’s only the beginning. The rest of our time belongs to your cat. Depending on what they enjoy, that might mean playing, brushing, cuddling, talking, lap time, or simply sitting nearby and keeping them company. I’ll also send photos or videos so you can see for yourself that your fur baby is happy and well cared for.

I’m experienced with special diets and administering pills, liquid medications, and topical medications, as well as monitoring cats who are sick, recovering, or living with chronic conditions. I pay close attention to appetite, behavior, litter habits, and anything else that might tell us your kitty isn’t quite feeling like themselves. And if ever needed, I am also comfortable putting them in their carrier and taking them to the vet.

Before becoming a professional cat servant πŸ˜‰, I spent 20 years as a wildlife biologist. My career gave me extensive experience observing animal behavior and taught me just how much animals communicate when we take the time to pay attention.

Your cat’s safety is also nonnegotiable. I’m extremely mindful with indoor only cats and doors/windows, outdoor routines, tracking collars, and whatever security measures you use in your home.

And while you’re away, I’m happy to bring in your mail and packages, water plants, take trash to the curb, rotate lights, and keep an eye on your home.

My goal is simple: when you come home, I want your cat to have been so happy, safe, loved, and spoiled that they barely noticed you were gone. ❀️

Learn More About Crysta

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Look for someone who understands that great cat sitting is about much more than filling a food bowl and scooping a litter box. Cats are creatures of habit, and even small changes in their behavior, appetite, litter habits, or personality can tell you something important. I’d choose a sitter who takes the time to learn your cat’s individual personality and routine, respects their boundaries, and genuinely enjoys spending time with them. Your sitter should be just as comfortable giving an affectionate kitty plenty of love as they are patiently sitting across the room from a shy one who needs time to build trust. Most importantly, choose someone who makes you feel comfortable. You’re trusting that person with two things that are incredibly important to you: your beloved cat and your home. You should be able to leave knowing both are safe, respected, and cared for.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start by learning your cat’s normal routine, personality, favorite things, and little quirks. We’ll go over feeding, litter, medications if needed, favorite toys, hiding spots, house rules, safety precautions, and anything else that helps me keep their world feeling familiar while you’re away. Just as importantly, I want to know how your cat prefers to interact. Are they a social butterfly who wants instant attention, or a shy kitty who needs to decide I’m trustworthy first? I never force an introduction. I let your cat set the pace while I quietly earn their trust. From there, my goal is to follow your routine as closely as possible while giving your kitty plenty of personalized attention, enrichment, and affection on their terms.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I’m generally available during holidays and understand that those are often the times cat parents need someone they can really count on. I’m happy to care for your kitty while you’re traveling or celebrating, and I’ll do my best to keep their normal routine consistent while you’re away. Holiday availability can fill up quickly, so booking early is always appreciated!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

San Clemente cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
