What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve lived with and cared for cats for most of my life. My first big adult choice at 18 was adopting a cat, and I’ve been involved in cat care ever since. Over ten years ago, friends and family began asking me to look after their cats because I was patient and calm with sensitive kitties. For the past four years, I’ve been cat sitting professionally, gaining experience with a wide range of personalities. I’ve cared for cats with medical needs, followed detailed care routines, and learned how to adjust my approach so each cat feels comfortable, safe, and secure in their own home.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most is the privilege of getting to know each cat's unique personality. I love the process of earning the trust of a shy cat, seeing that first slow blink, or discovering that a supposedly aloof cat is actually a secret cuddlebug once they feel comfortable. It's incredibly rewarding to provide a sense of consistency and calm for them while their family is away, turning a potentially stressful time into one filled with play, purrs, and gentle companionship. It’s not just about filling a food bowl; it's about being a temporary friend.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
My top priority is creating a safe and secure environment for every cat and home I care for. It all starts with a good meet-and-greet to really get to know the cat's personality and routine. When I come for a visit, I’m super careful about locking doors and windows every time I leave, and I’m vigilant about preventing escapes when entering or exiting. I keep a close eye on the important stuff, like how much they're eating, drinking, and using the litter box, since that's the first sign if something's off. I send thorough daily updates and plenty of photos so cat parents can relax and know everything is perfectly fine back home.

We hired Natalia to care for our two cats for 11 days, and she was absolutely wonderful. From the initial meet-and-greet, it was clear she genuinely cares about the animals she works with and is respectful of their routines and of your home. I had been a little nervous using a new sitter (who wouldn’t be? You’re entrusting them with keys and your fur babies while you’re away) but she immediately put us at ease. Throughout the trip, she was incredibly communicative, sending daily updates and plenty of photos. Our cats adored her, and we came home to two relaxed, happy kitties who weren’t nearly as angry at us for leaving them as they had been in the past. Natalia is professional, thoughtful, reliable, and clearly dedicated to what she does. We’re so thankful we found her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy cat sitter. This was my first time using a pet sitting service and it went amazingly smoothly. Natalia was very responsible and spent lots of time with my cat. she provided very detailed daily summaries with lots of cute photos. I didn't have to worry about anything while I was gone. she is newer to meowtel but has been professionally cat sitting through other platforms for a while now, so is very experienced. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Francisco cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $37.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
