I once had to walk for help and arrived at a lonely house in the woods where the people were skeptical of strangers. Their cat walked up to me, jumped into my arms, and took up a roost on my shoulders. They said he didn't like most people, but they trusted me after that, even after I had appeared at their remote house with no warning just before dark. I ordinarily meet the cats quickly when visiting friends or meeting new people, and it almost always works out very well. I have lived with four cats for the past 12 years and understand and treasure the unique traits each one has. Within a few minutes of sitting down I usually have all three of the boys attached to me in some way, and the geriatric female works around her issues with them to make sure we are in contact also. What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been a pet sitter one way or another since I first helped a neighbor with her cats, dogs and horses when I was a teenager. I ended up in charge of feeding a houseful of dogs around that same time, and have always been comfortable taking care of and spending time with animals. I'm the one who ends up with a lap full of cats when visiting new houses. I get along fine with people too, but it's easier with cats.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy getting to know and spending time with cats. They are honest about their feelings and seldom dissemble, and they find ways to let you know if something needs to be done. When I'm home alone with our cat family they indulge in a little friendly competition over the favored spot at my side, and I think they appreciate that I always make sure even the less-competitive ones get their fair share of attention and respect.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My cats are Wednesday, Johnny, Pookie and Cooper. They have become famous among our friends and relatives for being happy and easy to get to know. Wednesday has been with us for 13 years and is doing very well after having a little trouble with extra weight in her middle years. Johnny and Pookie where headed for an uncertain fate at the pound when we took them in 10 years ago; they are brothers although they look nothing alike (they do share a certain dashing attitude), and Cooper was living on the streets of Sacramento as a six-month old until 2017. He has adjusted very well to living indoors. The boys all had to endure a certain amount of hazing from Wednesday when they moved in, but they took it in stride and now are very protective of her.

Dale was great with our two shy, nervous cats! Both kitties can be anxious when we're away, but they were chipper and relaxed when we came home. Dale was very responsive and shared daily updates about how the cats were doing, along with cutie pictures! I definitely recommend Dale to anyone looking for a reliable, effective cat-sitter.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
