What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Taking the time to get to know each cat’s personality and quirks is the best part of cat sitting! How do they like to play with their toys? What’s their favorite place to watch over their kingdom? Which flavor snack or meal is their favorite? Each one is so unique, and getting to know your cat’s unique personality will be so much fun!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite cat I’ve sat for is Humo. Humo is a wonderful cat, but he would give people small bites every so often when he was overstimulated. They wouldn’t pierce the skin, but they would hurt. The owners would only give verbal reprimands to stop this behavior. I took another approach. I would watch Humo’s tail continuously while petting him, and I would be sure to pause every so often to make sure he wanted me to keep going. Each time he nipped me, I spoke in kind tones and gave him space. He came to see that I respected his boundaries without getting loud or in his face. Over time, if he needed to tell me no, all he gave me was a gentle nudge with his teeth. Humo and I came to understand and respect each other - making him my favorite cat sitting reservation.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to walk through the cat’s routine with the parent and make sure everything is written down for reference. This can include emergency contacts, dietary restrictions, daily needs, etc. Let’s make sure you and your cat all are on the same page and feel our best about me being their sitter!

Lauren has been a wonderful companion for our cats while we travel. They are all happy to greet her when she arrives and quickly warmed up to her for both play time and pets. This particular trip, Lauren went above and beyond dealing with an ant invasion. She cleaned up the ants from the dry cat food daily, destroyed ant trails and moved cat dishes daily to slow the ants finding the food each day. It can be a never ending game of whack-a-mole(ant) and she met the challenge with ease and grace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Valley Center cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Lauren is magical with our senior kitty! I really think she 'speaks cat' - our kitty was immediately taken to her.
