Caring for cats isn’t something I fell into- it’s something I’ve grown into over a lifetime of loving them deeply. I’ve worked in animal shelters, opened my home to a hospice adoption, and currently share my life with two chronically ill cats whose daily care has made me a sharper, more intuitive caregiver than I ever could have become otherwise.

Every visit is guided by you and your cat. I want to learn the most I can from yout about your cat. I never rush them or push for affection they’re not offering- I let them set the pace, and I stay as long as they need. Some cats want to play. Some want company from across the room. I’m fluent in both. Ultimately, I strive to read your cat. I try to notice the subtle shifts- small signs of contentment, the appetite change, the hiding, the small thing that’s just a little off. I know how to follow medication routines without stress, how to earn trust from a shy cat, and how to make even the most anxious kitty feel like the whole world slowed down just for them.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
The moment a shy cat decides you’re safe. There’s nothing quite like earning the trust of an animal who had no reason to give it to you. That slow blink from across the room. The tentative head bump. The cat who spent the first visit hiding under the bed and by the third visit is weaving through your legs. That progression- that trust- is everything to me. I also love being a soft landing for pet parents. I know what it feels like to leave an animal you love in someone else’s hands, especially if that animal has medical needs or anxiety or quirks that make them harder to care for. Cat sitting lets me do what I’ve always done: show up fully for animals who can’t advocate for themselves, and for the people who love them most.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Every great visit starts long before I walk through the door. I begin by introducing myself and getting to know you, because understanding the person who loves your cat is just as important as understanding your cat. I’ll ask about their personality, routines, quirks, and anything that makes them uniquely them. The hiding spots, the favorite toy, the thing that always makes them feel safe. From there, I take everything you’ve shared and build each visit around it. Nothing is one-size-fits-all: your cat’s comfort is the blueprint, and your confidence in me is the goal.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I never push, rush, or try to win over an anxious cat; that would be me prioritizing my needs over theirs. Instead, I make myself small, slow, and predictable. I move slowly, speak softly, and let them set every boundary. Sometimes that means sitting quietly on the floor doing nothing. And I’m completely comfortable with that. Living with chronically ill and special needs cats has taught me that patience isn’t just a virtue in this work- it’s the whole strategy. Some cats need three visits before they’re curious. Some need to sniff my bag for ten minutes before they’re ready. I follow their lead every single time. I also keep pet parents closely updated on how their cat is doing, because knowing your anxious baby is okay matters just as much as the progress itself. Trust can’t be forced. But it can absolutely be earned.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
