I share my life with three cats of my own Pancake, Onyx, and Queenie each a reminder that trust is earned and care is an act, not a slogan.
I actively trap and assist cats for local TNR programs across the state, working to reduce suffering the right way: patiently, responsibly, and with respect for the animals and the communities they live in.
I also work closely with Wild Blue Cat Rescue in Black Forest, supporting rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term care efforts for cats who would otherwise be forgotten.
I’ve been rescuing and working with animals for nearly 60 years. This isn’t a hobby, and it isn’t a trend. It’s a lifetime commitment—earned through early mornings, hard choices, and the quiet understanding that animals don’t need saving speeches. They need people who show up.

Learn More About Nicholas James

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I has been my pleasure to work, rescue, sitting and caring for both dogs and cats for almost 60 years it has never been a job for me. It has always been a passion

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy the interaction with the cat the most. If I could I would spend my entire life doing nothing but playing with kittens and cats. Most people really have no idea what the domestic feline really is

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I currently have three cats of my own. Their names are Pancake, Onyx and Queenie ,and all three are rescues

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Trust your cat and trust your gut. Your intuition is never wrong and neither is your cats. Cats are probably some of the best judge of characters in the world

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Ensuring the safety and security of cats is always my top priority when I’m cat-sitting. I begin by making sure the home environment is secure—checking doors, windows, screens, and any potential escape points. I strictly follow the cat’s established routine, including feeding schedules, litter box maintenance, and any medical or dietary instructions provided by the owner. I closely observe each cat’s behavior, appetite, and litter box habits during every visit, as these are often the earliest indicators of illness or distress. If anything appears out of the ordinary, I communicate promptly with the owner and, if necessary, follow pre-approved veterinary instructions. Finally, I maintain clear communication with the owner, providing updates and photos when requested, so they can feel confident that their cat and their home are safe, secure, and well cared for at all times.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I'm almost always available most holidays and weekends and during the week for that matter. I am semi-retired so I am pretty free

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Colorado Springs cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
