I have had cats (usually more than one and as many as 4) since I was 5 years old. I retired a few years ago so you can guess how many years that is! Just to be fair, I've also always had dogs. I currently have an 8-year-old, female German Shepherd Dog. And yes, all my cats and dogs have always gotten along.
I am responsible, dependable, extremely organized, an 'out of the box' problem solver and a very good communicator. I am patient, calm and understanding and will do what it takes to make your kitties feel well cared for and loved.
I was fortunate enough to purchase a winter home on Longboat Key FL when I retired in 2018. I spend Jan-May enjoying paradise there, then am lucky enough to travel back to Colorado, my home for over 50 years and spend the rest of the year there. I am originally from Connecticut... I started sitting for Meowtel this past summer (2024) and have enjoyed it so much, I am going to give it a whirl while I'm in FL for the season.
I currently have the sweetest little boy cat named Charlie. He was born in foster care 18 years ago and I adopted him when he was 10 weeks old. He was originally named 'Runt' due to his diminutive size but that didn't seem like a good moniker to hang on him, so Charlie it is!
I've had many cats over the past 65 years and they have all lived long, happy lives. I even had a stray that I 'captured' as a kitten that lived to be 26!!! I thought that had to be a record, but I have heard of some cats living longer. I must be doing something right! All of my cats have been rescues.
I am well versed in all cat care, including medication administration, transportation (if needed) and the understanding of cats' different personalities, behaviors and moods.
I am a retired social worker and client advocate, so I am accustomed to traveling to other people's homes and respecting your privacy and security as well as meticulously following your instructions and communicating daily while you're away.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have owned and cared for cats since I was 5 years old. I have cared for friends and family's animals for over 50 years
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy the company of cats. I am fascinated by the different behaviors and personalities that each individual kitty possesses.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I currently have one 19-year-old cat named Charlie.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Listen to your gut. And leave clear concise instructions.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
The meet and greet is so important. I love meeting new people and I like to take notes so I don't have to rely on having perfect recall! All of my previous jobs have involved customer service, in one shape or another and the need for keeping detailed notes for follow-up. I am also a transparent person and happy to answer all the clients' questions.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
My cats have always been indoor cats, so I am very conscious of kitty escape tactics. I treat a clients home with the same care and consideration that I would expect. While not always possible (depending on the particular cat) I like to see each cat face to face for an assessment of their wellbeing and health. Cleaning their food and water bowls every visit is hygienically important as well.

yes, I am normally available during the holidays
What is your favorite cat toy?
the laser and the "bouncy, squeaky mouse wand"
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I will let them come to me. I will try to coax them out using soft high tones, while feeding. If there is a particular toy that they like, especially if it makes noise. if they have not appeared when the food is down, I'll hang out near their food and play with that to entice them. If they are food motivated, treats are always helpful!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

We have a pretty high maintenance girl, with her diabetes and Sherre went above a beyond! We test her blood sugar before each insulin shot twice a day and Sherre was very receptive to learning how! it really put our minds at ease being away for so long knowing she was staying in her usual routine and getting some company! Sherre was great! Very detail oriented and great communication for the entire week. All the kitty boxes were cleaned, feeders were cleaned and filled every day, water was always refreshed, and supplements during lunch were always given according to instructions. My 4 kitties loved their time with her! She also made sure our home was safe and sound, during visits. We will definitely have her kitty-sit again!

Sherre was a fabulous cat sitter for my cat, Penny! She was very detailed and attentive. She has such a warm and lovely personality that made me feel immediately at ease leaving her in the care of my cat. She gave Penny space when she didn’t want pets or playtime, but she made sure to be present for when Penny sought attention. She cleaned Penny’s litter box and food bowl daily and made sure to leave a clean house after she left. Sherre was absolutely amazing with my two boys! Both of my cats are not great with strangers, one is very shy and the other can be aggressive, and Sherre was patient and loving with both of them. She sent us very detailed updates and lots of pictures. In addition to taking care of our cats, Sherre took care of our home. She brought in packages that were delivered, kept an eye on our wonky thermostat, and alerted us when our back gate was open. Sherre was also wonderful with our high-energy husky. People always say “oh cats are so easy, you can just leave them and they will be fine.” Well that’s not my cat, he demands attention and his precious wet food. So any time we go out of town we have to find someone to check in on him. Usually we ask friends or family but that is not always possible so finding Meowtel and Sherre have been a blessing!! Sherre was astounding, she provided photos and constant updates on her visits. She even got our cat to play with a cat toy which is huge for a cat that prefers to be catered too!
