What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I started cat sitting during my PhD nearly a decade ago. I was based at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland where people were often called away to conferences in other cities, countries, and even continents. It was important for them to know that their cats were safe and well taken care of while they were away, and I genuinely enjoyed giving them that reassurance. From kittens to super seniors, I provided care in their own homes, including feeding, changing litter boxes, and of course playing. I got to know and love each cat I say for, and several clients are my friends to this day!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite cat sitting reservation for was an 18-year-old cat named Maggie. She lived in the apartment next door to me, and her dad knocked on my door one day in a panic because his cat sitter had fallen through and he needed to leave for a trip the next morning. It was the first time I had met him, but I wasn't about to let a kitty down! Maggie was very, very shy at first, but I showed up every day to give her fresh food and water, change her litterbox, and just sit with her wherever she was. If that meant sitting on the floor for half an hour while she hid under the bed, then that's what I would do! After many days of this, Maggie finally decided I was safe, and the first time she rubbed up against me, I felt like a gold medalist!
What is your favorite cat toy?
Each of my cats is very particular about their toys, so it's up to them! Sophie loves anything with silvervine, especially toys she can kick. Sidian's favorite is a very colorful bird we call his "party parrot", and he loves to walk around the house with it in his mouth. And Jack - well, Jack is special. He likes to provide for his family by hunting, trotting his "kill" over to wherever I am while yowling that dinner is served. But while he means well, he's a bit confused about what humans eat, because his favorite thing to hunt is...socks. The smellier the better. It brings him joy and fulfillment, so of course I leave them in different places around the house for him to find. He is a very mighty sock hunter. :)

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
