Two of my three original cats lived into their early twenties, giving me extensive hands-on experience with SubQ fluids, diabetes management and insulin injections, close health monitoring, inhaler and asthma treatments, nebulizer therapy, injectable medications, and administering oral medications safely and gently.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I always encourage pet guardians to create a detailed “Pet Care Handbook” for their sitter. This should include each cat’s name, age, medical conditions, allergies, medications, feeding instructions, litter box routine, personality traits, favorite toys, and your veterinarian’s contact information. The more detailed the information, the better — both for your peace of mind and for your cat’s comfort and safety. Clear instructions about food type, portion sizes, treat guidelines, medication schedules, and specific play preferences are incredibly helpful. I also recommend including a “last updated” date so sitters know the information is current. For ease of use, I suggest printing the handbook in a clear, easy-to-read font (size 12–14), organizing it into clearly labeled sections, and placing the pages in sheet protectors inside a binder. Adding photos of your cats on the cover is a thoughtful touch. Leaving this binder in a visible spot, such as the kitchen counter,etc..

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety and security are always my top priorities when caring for both your cats and your home. Each visit, I carefully ensure that all doors and windows are securely closed and locked, and I am happy to arm or disarm any alarm systems as instructed. I remain mindful of my surroundings and take extra care to prevent any potential escape risks when entering or exiting the home. I also check that there are no unsafe items, toxic substances, or foods accessible to your cats. Most importantly, I prioritize their physical safety by keeping them securely indoors and maintaining a calm, controlled environment throughout my visit. Your home and your beloved cats will always be treated with the same level of care and attentiveness as my own.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

As the guardian of a shy and anxious cat myself, I deeply understand the importance of patience and a calm, respectful approach. I move slowly, speak softly, and allow cats the time and space they need to become comfortable with my presence. I never force interaction. Instead, I let them approach on their own terms, offering my scent and sitting quietly so they can observe and build trust at their pace.

This was my first time using a pet sitting agency and I can't be more pleased with how it went. From the meet and greet to the final day with my Piper, Kristin was fantastic. Kristin is one of the only people I trust permanently with both my cats and my house key. She always puts pets’ welfare above all else (even herself!) and I never have to worry she’ll creep through my stuff. Her extensive knowledge of and experience with sub-q fluids etc is very comforting and has come in handy. She has a lot of experience and is even willing to give advice on a variety of topics when I ask for it.

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
