What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been caring for cats for decades. I got my first cat in elementary school, and I’ve shared my home with four cats over the years. Along the way, I’ve also cared for the cats of friends, neighbors, and family members. That lifetime of experience has taught me that every cat has a unique personality, routine, and way of communicating.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to know each cat’s unique personality. Some greet you at the door, some watch from across the room, and others take a few visits before deciding you’re trustworthy. Watching that trust develop is one of the most rewarding parts of cat sitting.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite visits was with a cat whose owner warned me she was reserved around new people. I didn’t try to win her over—I simply respected her space, spoke softly, and kept our routine consistent. Before long, she surprised me by hopping into my lap while I watched TV. Moments like that remind me that trust can’t be rushed. When a cat chooses to connect with you, it’s incredibly rewarding.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I’m the proud cat dad of Maxwell, an American Shorthair rescue, and Bodhi, a Flame Point Siamese I found as a tiny stray. Watching them grow into happy, confident cats has been one of the great joys of my life. Living with two very different personalities has taught me to adapt my care to each cat’s individual needs rather than expecting every cat to be the same.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Look for someone who genuinely enjoys cats and understands that every cat is different. A meet-and-greet before your trip is invaluable—it lets you see how your cat responds to the sitter, review your routine, and make sure everyone feels comfortable. The best cat sitters don’t just complete a checklist; they earn your cat’s trust and give you peace of mind while you’re away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start every new client relationship with a meet-and-greet. It’s a chance for us to get acquainted, for your cat to meet me in a familiar environment, and for me to learn their unique routine, personality, favorite hiding spots, feeding schedule, medications, and any special preferences. During your trip, I’ll send updates and photos after each visit, so you can relax knowing your cat is happy, healthy, and receiving the same thoughtful care I’d want for my own cats.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety is always my top priority. I’m careful entering and leaving the home to prevent curious cats from slipping outside, and I always make sure I know where each cat is before opening or closing a door. I follow your care instructions closely, double-check doors and locks before I leave, and keep you informed with updates after every visit so you know everything is going smoothly.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I know holidays are one of the busiest times for travel, so I make myself available whenever possible. If I’m in town, I’m happy to care for your cats so you can enjoy your time away with complete peace of mind.

What is your favorite cat toy?

The Cat Crazy! Bodhi loves playing fetch with it and will sometimes leap into the air to catch it mid-flight. I also enjoy Cat Dancers and wand toys because they let each cat play in their own unique way.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Timid cats need patience, not pressure. I never force interactions or expect a cat to warm up to me right away. Instead, I respect their space, move calmly, speak softly, and let them set the pace. Over time, many shy cats become curious enough to approach on their own. If a cat prefers privacy, I’m just as happy to make sure they’re well cared for while giving them the space they need to feel secure.
