What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

10+ years pet and cat sitting for friends, family, as well as Meowtel. In my family, I am always the “go-to” person when someone goes away for vacation etc.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Meeting all sorts of personalities and getting to know the wants and needs of individual cats, as cats are as diverse as people! I find it extremely therapeutic for me to be around animals in general, but cats and horses specifically.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I used to cat sit my sisters cat, Tiger, all the time! I miss him so much. I grew up with him and when I would pet sit him he loved jsut napping by my side. My family always had cats (and dogs) growing up, and having to say goodbye as I got older and as they did too never got easier. I always cherish the memories.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

My two boys are named Buttercup and Mr. Mister. I also care for my roomates cat, Donut, as my own since they’re often not home.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

If you have a senior cat or a cat with special needs, I would clarify that as much as possible, ensuring everything runs smoothly. That way, the sitter knows what to expect, and your kitty gets the exact care and attention they deserve.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to chat via Meowtel app and definitely set up a meet and greet! I enjoy meeting the babies with their parents around, and I usually take notes via my phone or note pad.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I’ve always been a very self aware person. I make sure I’m entering and leaving carefully, so there are no escapees, and I take extra care when it comes to medications/special diets etc. I also always double check locked doors, while making sure I’m not locking myself out.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I don’t mind working holidays at all. It’s a provelage to be able to accompany babies during the holidays.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Go Cat’s “Da Bee” is almost an exclusive toy around here! I’m not a fan of lasers, and very much so a fan of being able to physically interact during play time. We also love a little cat nip, cardboard, and anything paper!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I approach shy and timid cats with a quiet, slow manner, speaking gently, and slow blinking. Some cats will still be shy, but at least they don’t feel threatened. Body language is everything!
