What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My typical process starts with getting to know both the cat and their owner so I can keep everything as stress-free and consistent as possible. I ask about feeding schedules, routines, personality, medications, favorite toys, hiding spots, and any behaviors or concerns I should know about. During visits, I make sure food, water, and litter are fresh and clean while also giving each cat attention based on their comfort level ā whether thatās playtime, cuddles, or simply calm companionship. I also send updates and photos so cat parents can relax knowing their pets are safe, happy, and cared for while theyāre away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I handle anxious cats with patience, calm energy, and respect for their space. I avoid forcing interaction and let them approach me on their own terms. I move slowly, speak softly, and keep a consistent routine so they feel safe and predictable surroundings. I donāt pull them out of hiding unless necessary and instead build trust through quiet presence, regular feeding, and gentle check-ins. I also pay attention to body language to avoid overstimulation or stress. Overall, I focus on creating a calm, stable environment where the cat can relax and gain trust at their own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
