What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been pet sitting through Rover for the past 5 years and have cared for many cats with different personalities, routines, and needs. In addition to cat sitting throughout college, I also grew up with two cats of my own, so I’m very familiar with their daily care and behavior. I’m comfortable with feeding, fresh water, litter box maintenance, administering oral medications if needed, interactive playtime, and providing companionship while respecting each cat’s individual preferences. I understand how important it is to keep cats on their normal routine, and I always follow owners’ instructions carefully. My goal is to make your cat feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away, while keeping you updated with photos and messages for peace of mind.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Your cat’s safety and your home’s security are always my top priorities. I make sure all doors, windows, and screens are securely closed before leaving, and I’m careful to prevent curious cats from slipping outside when entering or exiting the home. I follow your care instructions closely, keep food, water, and the litter box clean, and pay attention to any changes in your cat’s behavior, appetite, or health. I also treat every home with the utmost respect by locking up securely after each visit, keeping the space clean and tidy, and only using areas necessary to care for your cat. I’ll send regular updates and photos so you know your cat is happy, safe, and receiving the care they deserve while you’re away.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I let every cat set the pace. I know that some cats warm up quickly while others need more time, and I’m happy to be patient. I never force interactions or try to pick up a cat that isn’t comfortable. Instead, I move slowly, speak softly, respect their space, and let them come to me when they’re ready. I focus on keeping their routine consistent, providing a calm environment, and using play or treats (if approved by the owner) to help build trust. My goal is to make each visit as low-stress as possible so your cat feels safe and comfortable while you’re away. Even if a cat prefers to keep their distance, I’ll make sure they’re well cared for and closely monitor that they’re eating, drinking, and behaving normally.
